Thread: Simple and fair solution to Jedi Mind Trick

I think I came up with something that's pretty fair, actually in continuity to an extent, and gives people a reason to Master CH without taking abilities away from Jedi.

Face it, there's SWU examples of Jedi controlling animals. Anakin controlled the nexu in Ep II, and we don't have to go into Nightsisters. Jedi controlling other people's pets in theory is not a bad idea.

The problem is when it becomes a matter of Jedi having control over the entire point of your class and being able to use it for a short time at your own level. We need to have a recourse against this, and the answer is pretty simple.

At Master CH, our pets gain immunity to Jedi Mind Trick.

If you want to PvP with your pets against Jedi, great, but you have to master the profession. Only at that level have your pets gained enough confidence in fighting at your side that they will stand up against a Jedi without question.

Thoughts?

YES

....and then no matter how hard we get nerfed, we still keep CH because we are still some of the coolest characters on the game.

Just because Jedi can affect a few berzerk animals (namely the Nexu), since they are mindless in a way.

Pets have connections with their masters. There is something to be said when a pet is willing to give its life for you. The Rancors were intelligent, and you didn't see Nightsisters turning each the Singing Mount Clan's Rancors against their masters because they had too strong of connections. The Rancors served the Singing Mountain Clan because they were attached to them. And technically, the Nightsisters having Rancors in game is inaccurate because the Rancors didn't like the Nightsisters because of their attachment to the Dark Side of the Force and their cruelty.

I agree that this is the best sollution.

As it stands the mind trick is exclusively cruel to Creature Handlers.

There aren't fencers slashing their own arms off (which could, in theory, but done). Fencers cutting their arms off is an extreme example of how someone could stretch the limits of the jedi mind trick. I feel that turning creatures against their life-long trainer and friend is another extreme.

In the films, the mind trick was never used to completely forgo someone's emotional association.

It was used to temporarilly confuse people and creatures into thinking something different about the current situation.

If the mind trick could have been used to turn creatures against their friends and comrades we would have seen stormtroopers shooting each other in Episode IV.

Two thoughts:

(1) An MCH should have a new command, Attack Jedi With Berserk Fury, which you give a pet when you become aware of a Jedi in the area ... it is only triggered with the Jedi attempts 'mind-trick', and the result is the pet temporarily gaining 50% HAM and becoming Enraged and attacking the Jedi who attempted the trick.

(2) Master Armorsmith crafted pet armor with high Lightsaber resists.

But, since it appears quite clear that a galaxy packed to the rafters with uber Jedi is the devs last gasp at salvaging this project before a soon-to-be-released competitor RPG drains away the customer base, I doubt we'll see any of the myriad fine ideas proposed to fix this sorry mess get anything more than lip service.

The devs should just make Jedi mind trick like stun or something. It temporaroly decreases your speed, damage, ect. That way it affects everyone not just us.

This is the bottom line, and what this is all about.

SOE has seriously screwed the pooch with this game, and they see the Jedi population explosion as their only hope.

Yup, I agree .

How about if the jedi fails to turn the pet he become extremely vulnerable to that pet.

I really liked the idea of pet XP too Shabaii. Was that yers?
