are large pets like rancor ,gruals and kimos any use my large rancor just gets stuck all the time expect on tat and lok and only when im in the open they dont seem to be any good for place like ft tusken any ideas?

Find a smaller pet. I use a boar wolf from endor 9k ham, decent kinetic resists, level 25, quiet small. It doesn't do a ton of damage but it tanks great for me to sit back and shoot. You also don't have to get the kill with the pet, it only has to land one hit.

Otherwise Natural Cat-bodytypes do well.

Yep, while the big pets are fun to look at, they're just not good for travelling and fighting. I do hunt with my big monsters often, but I pull them out only when I get to my hunting area, and then store them again when I move on.
