I can't seem to figure it out. No not every profession is for everyobody but the number of people that post that they are leaving the CH profession is growing everyday (CH runs a close second to Smuggler). Like I have posted before I am fairly new to CH (1/1/1/3) and enjoy the profession very much. But last night when I logged on to Sunrunner in C-Net all I saw were "Novice Creature Handler" tags.
To humor myself I did a search for CH and over 20 results came back. A few Master's, 1 or 2 Pack Master tags and the rest were NCH.
For all of those leaving the CH community it appears that you will be replaced soon. So if you are leaving help a novice out and give him a starter pet or any tips and tricks that you picked up. Maybe if we can train the community the profession can grow stronger.
P.S. This is not a goodbye and good ridence post but more of please help us one more time on your way out.

I keep MSC for the love of it and my pets.
Well, i think it ALL depends on the Combat Revamp. If they
botch this.. SWG will die. Maybe JTL will keep them up a bit more,
as a space-fightgame, but the state of the Ground combat
isHORRIBLE.
So i Hope, CH have a good cut in the CR, as well as everyone else...
A daunting task...
Especially as it looks that theres no Beastlord/Petclass in EQ2

I think you have to take those post with a grain of salt. Maybe they'll quit, maybe they won't. But people need to venttheir frustration and worry over something they care a lot about and invested a lot of time in. I'd bet every board has postings where people threaten to quit. I know that the rifleman board has been floating a long post just like that for a few weeks now because it's pretty clear that riflemanwill be greatly changed by the combat rebalance.
On the positive side, just this week I've encounter a few new players expressing interest in becoming CH. We were hunting in a group and they wanted me because I had my master rifleman tag up. But when I took out the graul mauler to tank sharnaffs, they were mighty impressed. They actually cheered for the mauler. I was touched.
I know that I went through a kind of disillusionment half way through the grind. It's a lot of taming we have to perform and it can be very tedious. And painful--my wrist and elbow would ache after a long session of tame&release. I'm one skill box away from finishing and I'm procrastinating because taming rills and durnis is not the most exciting part of game play. I sometimes enjoyed the process; it would be a good break from running missions. I'd run across Tatooine for 3-4 days, taming everything in sight. I'd attack rill lairs just to produce 1 or2 more babies. But we're forced to do it this way because we're not rewarded for taking greater risks. With my level 18 motley wrix, I get 1080 xp for taking out a Tusken Warlord. Taming and training a baby rill earns me at this point 1700+ xp. And there is no significant difference between taming rill and taming a graul mauler. This really doesn't make sense.
So I guess my point is that this profession is a difficult grind and it's discouraging, even to those who care about the profession itself. This might weed out those who choose it for the misguided belief that it will make them uber and prevent many from dabbling, which is fine by me. But when you add all the other shortcomings of the profession to the long grind, you'll have frustrated people who wonder whether it was all worth it.

You want to humor yourself? Do a find on TKA or Swordsman. Look at how many masters show up. Before the great nerf, it was not unusual to be able to scroll through pages of MCH's. I have been MCH for a year. Most of those novices will give it up quickly. Some will keep it for a while but get disgusted with the grief/comments/uselessness and just move on. Those that actually master and keep it are either people like me or BE's. Most of those "Novices" are actually BE's with enough commands to train their deeds and a few useful commands. The rest are newbs who do not know any better, yet.

Yep, the people who keep CH and stick with it as a profession that they plan to use for something other than disposable meat shields are the ones that are fewer and farther between. But I have seen a lot of people on their trials who are very interested in the CH profession. I hope we can convince them that even with all its problems, its worth having and fighting for.

I hope you are right. I train and tame for CH at no charge. I usually leave them with a nice pet to work with, if I have one in my datapad they can handle. I can not pass up a decent baby of any level. lol Usually, if I train you, you end up with the pest pet you can handle now or at the next skill box. I put them on my friends list to keep track of them. I have been doing this since shortly after release. Leaving out holo grinders, you want to know how many out of about 59 in the last 6 months are still CH? The answer is 3. One master and two that keep enough to call the pet they like. Most have never heard of the forums. When I go rare hunting, I have to keep my MTK title up because no one bothers me with tells. I have talked to people that have been looking for a MCH to train Mount for up to 3 weeks. It is always a BE Bantha. lol
