Creature Handler Archive
Thread: this kind of thread makes me sick.
3/2/0/0 = PvE invincability for the most part, with Graul Maulers and dabbling. It was something that could be combined with almost any combat profession to allow for maximum power, so much so that the game was bieng termed Pet Wars, and pokemon is still a censored word probably.
Just because something else is more overpowered doesnt mean that this issue didnt need to be looked at either, although that is a favorite defense, to point to someone doing worse.
One star away, its just the truth.
"Our pets were nerfed because the majority of the playerbase did not understand buffs, or defense stacking, and foods hadn't been revamped yet. SOE acted too quickly and didn't understand the system THEY THEMSELVES had designed. "
This is assuming that the ability to solo almost any content in the game is intended. The truth is, as players find overpowered combinations, devs will nerf overpowered combinations. When devs nerf one overpowered combination, players often find another one that is just as bad if not worse than the last.
Just because players didnt know how to become uber buffing and defense stacking back when the game was Pet Wars, does not mean that CH should never have been nerfed. If people started defense stacking and buffing, it would be nerfed already, and CH would be the current uber.
Combat rebalance is going to eliminate the buffing uber solo group syndrome, so relax its next on the block so to speak. Its not that CH was nerfed and everything else as powerfull wasnt - it will be nerfed as well.

By doing all of this they have made the CH pretty useless on its own. Hoping, I believe, to eliminate it or drastically reduce it's visability because it is supposed to be not "Starwarsy." I must have missed the part when Luke donned composite armor, grabbed a big hammer and started bopping them on the head. lol
THE biggest concern when SWG was first released was the plethora of creatures. The CH haters could not stop talking about how the creatures were not "starwarsy". Hence all the "pokemon" comments from both snotnosed little l337 wannabees and TH himself. CH was one of the few working elite professions at launch; most of the rest were hopelessly gimped, and people flocked to CH because it worked in a no buff, no armor game environment...because Chef, for one thing, had been totally forgotten in the development process, the best I can tell.
As a result, the nerfbat crazed devs slapped CH around over and over again, because it was so much easier than actually paying attention to the other professions and bringing them up to the same level of functionality that CH had. But that would have involved a lot more work, and they were already way behind in the extended beta of the elite professions that was the first four months of release.
Yet they seem to have no problems with melee professions dominating a landscape that in the movies was dominated by ranged weapons, across the board. DId you see all those Jedi fall in the Geonosian Execution Arena to blaster wielding droids? Did you? How many swordsmen were there? How man power hammers? How many TKA? How many pikemen?

You can not be anymore correct then you are Bynder. Dead on, SOE acted out of 'reflex'. They were so worried SWG would faulter and hurt thier precious image would certainly decrease teh size of thier pocketbook.
