Our pets were nerfed because the majority of the playerbase did not understand buffs, or defense stacking, and foods hadn't been revamped yet. SOE acted too quickly and didn't understand the system THEY THEMSELVES had designed.

Oh please every CH who was around last year should know why, but just in case Ill remind you:

3/2/0/0 = PvE invincability for the most part, with Graul Maulers and dabbling. It was something that could be combined with almost any combat profession to allow for maximum power, so much so that the game was bieng termed Pet Wars, and pokemon is still a censored word probably.

Just because something else is more overpowered doesnt mean that this issue didnt need to be looked at either, although that is a favorite defense, to point to someone doing worse.

One star away, its just the truth.

"Our pets were nerfed because the majority of the playerbase did not understand buffs, or defense stacking, and foods hadn't been revamped yet. SOE acted too quickly and didn't understand the system THEY THEMSELVES had designed. "

This is assuming that the ability to solo almost any content in the game is intended. The truth is, as players find overpowered combinations, devs will nerf overpowered combinations. When devs nerf one overpowered combination, players often find another one that is just as bad if not worse than the last.

Just because players didnt know how to become uber buffing and defense stacking back when the game was Pet Wars, does not mean that CH should never have been nerfed. If people started defense stacking and buffing, it would be nerfed already, and CH would be the current uber.

Combat rebalance is going to eliminate the buffing uber solo group syndrome, so relax its next on the block so to speak. Its not that CH was nerfed and everything else as powerfull wasnt - it will be nerfed as well.

Obviously the dabbling was just apart of theproblem or the devs wouldn't have nerfed the mchs as well.

The skill tree redesign was to take care of the "Dabblers." The "Dabblers" just moved on to something else. The Great Nerf was more to benefit the BE that was redone at the same time. "Nothing should be better than a BE pet." Was the thinking back then. The must have had a pretty powerful dev that liked the profession because they even nerffed the DE revamp before it was released because droids might be better than BE non-pets. The TKM was changed to be a better tank than pets. All of this because the Devs do not like the idea of CH. They allowed vehicles to replace mounts which were really the vehicle Beta. They allow BE to replace non-ch pets. Then they nerffed all the animals to be sure the CH could not be more effect than a good melee character at tanking. By doing all of this they have made the CH pretty useless on its own. Hoping, I believe, to eliminate it or drastically reduce it's visability because it is supposed to be not "Starwarsy." I must have missed the part when Luke donned composite armor, grabbed a big hammer and started bopping them on the head. lol

THE biggest concern when SWG was first released was the plethora of creatures. The CH haters could not stop talking about how the creatures were not "starwarsy". Hence all the "pokemon" comments from both snotnosed little l337 wannabees and TH himself. CH was one of the few working elite professions at launch; most of the rest were hopelessly gimped, and people flocked to CH because it worked in a no buff, no armor game environment...because Chef, for one thing, had been totally forgotten in the development process, the best I can tell.

As a result, the nerfbat crazed devs slapped CH around over and over again, because it was so much easier than actually paying attention to the other professions and bringing them up to the same level of functionality that CH had. But that would have involved a lot more work, and they were already way behind in the extended beta of the elite professions that was the first four months of release.

Yet they seem to have no problems with melee professions dominating a landscape that in the movies was dominated by ranged weapons, across the board. DId you see all those Jedi fall in the Geonosian Execution Arena to blaster wielding droids? Did you? How many swordsmen were there? How man power hammers? How many TKA? How many pikemen?

Just think, the whole star wars universe would be different if old Darth had a nerf bat instead of that punny light thingie, luke would be a wall deco art object.

You can not be anymore correct then you are Bynder. Dead on, SOE acted out of 'reflex'. They were so worried SWG would faulter and hurt thier precious image would certainly decrease teh size of thier pocketbook.

Once upon a time I pvp'ed till defence stacking became the norm, but I like to do fun things in this game like being MCH and not worrying about my template etc etc because if I want to pvp well i have to be a dabbler. The thing is where do u draw the linewith dabblersbecause withthe points Ihave I'am MCH M/Pistoleer Ranger 0/0/3/0 does that make me one ok thats a bit harsh but still where will the line be drawn one master combat proff each.....but what I do know is solo krayt hunting or even groups or 2 or 3 is not the way they were meant to be hunted, I was lucky enough to be around when group hunting was the in thing and the hunt forkrayts in these groups was fun

P.s All I here now is how easy can I do thisor how quickly, why is the village so far away from the starport it takes sooooooo long to get there.........ppl easy and had it spring to mind thats why we will see alot more of this in the furture

Exactly, we were nerfed too hard too soon. SInce everything is supposed to be fixed in the combat revamp, it would nice of them to throw us a bone and up the MCH total pet level until then.
