Do you have to be a creature handler to use creatures? Can a non-CH get a tamed creature as a pet?

thanks

No, you got to make CH to use pets. (althoi think there is a bug allowing ppl to anyways, but its going to be fixed VERY VERY soon) And altho after that pointppl with low skillin the ch tree wont be able to get rancors and such, it would STILL be good to get novice CH just to get a pet, even if its only a cupa. Think of it as like having a damage buff, and lets face it, its a role playing game wouldnt it be nice to travel the universe with a faithfull companion even if hes not a wrecking machine?

Hey folks,

Pretty new to the game, but wondered what creatures your average joe newbie can use. More specifically, what actually determines if you can use one - its level?

Thanks.

There are several creature you can use as non-ch

rock beetle (tatooine)
Mountain kreetle (Naboo)
Cowardly gurreck (Endor)
Wrix (Talus)

If you search the boards you will find more information

Problem I find searching the boards is that the game tends to change quite often (like mounts) which makes guides and other information outdated.

A formula (sort of) instead of a list would be handy, since people often just refer to them by their levels when trading/transferring.

But good info to start with, thanks.

You can use any non aggressive pet upto level 15 and can store 2. It is likely to be nerfed tolev 10. there are stacks of creatures to choose from but most seem to follow the cowardly gurreck (way overpriced usually) rock beetle, Dalyrake Harvester (as a lev 3 cH in 3 ladders still use mine) wrixs slices ,cupas theres loads out there

The MIGHTY probot? All I use mine for is raising the mission diff at the terminal when I group him. The first time I took him into battle on one of those missions he got busted apart faster than I could say "What the....?"

And yes, he has medium armor and resist all 40%.

Go for critters. You don't need to be overt, and you can heal them if you have any medic ability.

I use a Probot for lair taping when i'm baby hunting.. have it hit the lair, then have it follow some other poor helpless NPC... thearby leading all the agros far away from me .. and their children... best if done while hunting Rancors& Grauls.. poorNPC Imps, and Kungas.. and Nightsisters..Nothing more fun then watching them run for thier lives

I got Novice CH just to get a few pets for fun, not really to planning to use them for combat all the time (XP is more important to me than $ I guess)

I tamed a Cowardly Gurreck while on Endor for Act2. Its been a baby for a long time cause I rarely call him out. Last night after one of many trips to the cloning center (because heals aren't hitting when they are supposed to...) my girlfriend asks about why I don't use my pets. I explained, but then pulled out my 'baby' to show her how that works.

Well, I come up to my mission,a small Imp Outpost with a Major, Trooper, and 2-1B Medic. I target the Major, call for the attack and Uhmmmm, he kicked the S*** out of them. All of them (with help from me of course) He's a baby. I like him.
