I go to Endor to hunt screecher babies with a friend, Paroon. My friend can solo screecher lairs but he's not CH, so he lets me tag along in case a baby spawns. On the 2nd lair a baby does spawns! Can't believe it,I think it might literally be the first one I've ever seen! My buddy is smart, manages to kill the remaining adults without killing the baby, then starts running to get away from the baby. Before long the baby gives up the chase, and I get my first chance ever to tame a screecher!
Well, on the first attempt the critter moves off faster than I expected and taming failed. The second attempt it aggroes on me but I just take off, making sure to never lose sight of it,until it stops chasing. Which it does, of course. Except that it stays in aggro! I couldn't move back in to tame it! So, I'm standing about 65 - 70m away scratching my head trying to figure out what to do. Will it stay in aggro now forever or what?
Then before my eyes it disappears. I thought at first something had killed it but no - it and the lair had despawned. Just poof. Gone. Maddening enough that it de-spawned but even more maddening is that I can't help but think that if I could have moved back in right away that it would not have de-spawned.
With the new aggro thing, is this now going to be the norm? I'll assume that the de-spawn was a bug, but will the baby remain in aggro if we fail our attempt to tame? Because that's really, really not good as in really, really bad.

The despawn issue has been a problem for a long time. Would I call it the norm? Yeah it seems to be if the tame fails and you have to jet away to lose agro. But maybe I am just being too critical.

It's happened to me a several times. Every time, I sat and waited and it returned after a couple of minutes. I timed it once at just over three minutes but I didn't every time to see if it was consistent.

the way i've found to avoid this..stay within 60m of the orignal spawn point..run i circles until the aggro stops...this may take 3 min or so..long time when running in circles..if you get to far away the despawn becomes more likely

This is also my experience, but I haven't tested it fully so it might just be my imagination

I've always used a combination of mask scent and immedietly sneaking up behind the creature before it can get back to the nest, seems to beat agro problems well.

Well, now in the light of day I realize I shouldn't have been all that concerned about the aggro thing - but it was late for me and wasn't thinking clearly
But last night, for some reason, my masked scent kept getting broken. Seemed like I couldn't go 5 seconds without "a creature has detected you" and I'm a Ranger 3040. Maybe that's a result of the new aggro thing, too. Anyway, I guess I was thinking that now that the baby was in aggro that it would be even harder for me to tame it.
Just how long will babies stay in aggro, anyway? Because thatseems to me that it really complicates things from a taming stand point.

although it seems like forever..it really is about 3 min, give or take...id rather run in circles for that long than try to break it quicker by running away and having the baby poof..never lost a baby by letting the aggro take it's course..i have had them poof by running too far away

As far as I know, the despawn when you get too far from the lair issue has been the case for ages. I'm not sure if it's by design, but your chances of have the lair guardians reset themselves is almost certain when you get beyond agiven distance from the lair.
As the others have said, I find it helps to go around the lair in moderately-sized circles to try to avoid this while shaking aggro. This tends to work for me, but it's a delicate game to decide how big you have to make those circles.
