Ok, so I was a CH/star wars player from release till early 2004 and gave it up. Thought i'd check it back out and am wondering, I was a CH 4412 and so, what I'm thinking... with the CU and respec process, should I move/change my skill set around? And I mostly just 'played' at CH, using a cu pa to mostly annoy people and sludge panthers to actually attack n' whatnot, so what critters should I actually be using for more combat oriented roles?

thanks, n' sorry for the newbie flavor of this question.

I really like my Gaping Spider Hunter. It's lvl 69, and has a ranged attack that damages health. I also picked up Death, Pestilence and War (My 3 Female Narglatches) They are only lvl 22, but have over 7K HAM each as they are elite pets. I'm still going to be looking for more elite pets as well. Forget what you knew, and get used to the new!

lol. Have fun.

Thanks, yeah I'm also a Carbineer 3-3-3-3 so, I'm pretty decent on the ranged weapon stuff, hell I just kinda like CH, it relieves some of the monotony grabbing/taming new critters. Now, I just gotta find some armor (damned CU has made my armor unusable).

My advice would be not to bother CH is a Shadow of its former Shadow of itself itis nothing but a DoT that costs a crap load SP and adds nothing to but crapy grey con mobs with no dmg output tanking or for that matter crowd control... as a MCH u get a total of 2 specials!! and 70 CL's to play with single and group pet combos btw CL70 may aswell be CL10 in the face of anything CL80 and over the combat lvl system totaly f*** us in the a**.

btw dont get drawn into the tripple narglach for the win crap they hit CL80 players for the grand total of 30 dmg each not to menton players nukeing them for 3k dmg a shot due to huge CL mitigation.

if u realy truly must be a CH then yeah get a gapeing spider but beware theres like no way its gonna be able to take anon grayMob withought u rideings its back pumping heals in as fast as a Master Doc can handle on a full mind buff.. oh and the second u attack u will pick up the aggro and get pummled into the ground..

just do what most the smart ppl are doing and go BH/Rifles/0404 pistoler or TKM/Swords/4000 doc both have uber tanking and dmg while on can heal like hellthe other can keep ur enemy +rooted+ and +snared+ while u pump the critical shot key.

welcome back....If you can respec to MCH then i would advise that. The community is kinda split into two camps(good and bad)....while pets are no-longer Uber...(were they ever?.....well i remember the calling of 3 webmasters in the "olde" days)....they are versatile. MCH is really a support/utility class and unless you plan to take out solo things very slowly...you really should should pick up a ranged combat prof also....Have fun maybe with BH or pistols or rifles....maybe muggler for some RP?

As far as the pet thing goes...at the moment they are borked, Resistances are not shown, no special attacks listed....we have been told that that this will be fixed...I'm believeing that it will(according to tiggs they all went on holiday right after the CU so it might happen soon). If this does get fixed then ur in good shape... there are pets (which "we" call Elite pets) which are more aggressive...they can be fun...also most pets have very fast regen of health so thats fun....if you liked CH before for just having a pet etc I would say stay and enjoy the different pets/skins that are availible to us. But if you want to be a Killing machine...then maybe CH ain't for you.....of course this could change when specials/resistances get fixed.

hope this is a helpfull reply

Don't listen to that negativity. My pets and I can solo lairs just fine. I'm a MCM, and a MCH. Sure I can pump heals into them, but I hardly ever need to. I just pump the MOB full of DOT's. Then open up with my pistol. I don't have much for offensive skills, but it works better that way for me because I don't generate the hate.

You want real advice.

Here it is, Don't listen to anyone in the ch forum.

Use the respec system and try it yourself for a few days.

The truth is ch has changed dramatically, Pets have changed dramatically. Most arent happy some are, new players seem to like it, (If they get beyond the 20k cap).

So considering your past, no one here can advise you on liking this profession or not, your not a new player but an old player with expectations and old habits.

Try it out and ignore evryone who has posted in this thread, "even me" lol.

I agree! All I was trying to say was don't throw the profession out the window because a few people hate it. I personally love it. Are there problems with the profession? Sure there are. Are they profession breaking? IMHO it depends if you can respec past the 20K limit.

Other issues I have that are not profession breaking for ME. (Don't flame me plz :-)
1. Pets not keeping hate.
2. Pets not loosing aggro.
3. Pets are TOO slow now. I don't have a pet that can keep up to me when I'm RUNNING, not burst running, but just normal running. What the heck. They don't seem to have that problem if I attack a lair!
4. Pets not using specials.
5. Mask scent breaking WAY too easy.
6. I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of them right now.

So to sum it all up. Try the profession if you want to. If you like it then Great! If you don't, then Have fun with whatever profession you choose.

Being a CH is now excellent for soloing lairs, or attacking them in a hunting party. If you use the attack and follow command in quick succession a pet will bring out one MOB - so you and your hunting party can sit at a safe distance and hit whatver your pet brings over. Either wait for the MOB to get near you and let your pet take the hate for a few seconds or hit it straight away and let your pet support you. With the new tactical style of hunting I've found this invaluable

If you have a good tag team - use one to bring over MOBs and the other to guard you.

I use a Gurreck (lvl 31)/Razorcat (lvl 34) as my tag team, and a lvl 69 angler for ranged attackand speed.

Loving CH - always have.

pulling MOBs these days seems to be a lot easier. Used to be you had to worry about all the assisting MOBs in the herd and be creative with your pulls. I find now even with NPCs I can be about 70m out do a quick attack/follow command and the MOB comes straight to me. As an MCM this is great for me because I have the time to apply a few CM attacks before I or my pet get involved. I havent tried tanking yet since all my pets are still CL 25 or lower, but my guild is full of jedi and combat people so I just have fun with my pets. I'm loving CH though, even now.
