Thread: Balanced animals to their CL?

I was looking on SWG website, yeah I've heard some of it isn't updated but I do have 1 example that fits. I am a little concerned that creatures health compared to dmg they do and lvl they are isn't right.I'm comparing lvl 23 & 22 animals in these examples. Some seem to generally have either like 5000 health and do more dmg than a 7000 health animal. That's good, and how I'd kind of expect it, 'cuz that's balancing the health to dmg they do. Yet GSPs are substantially below both, and they are the same CL as what I compared them to. Also I did see some other lvl 23 that had like 3000 health and did same amount dmg as GSP. Are these ones that haven't been converted into CU??? Such as Grand wrix (3000 health 257 dmg).

Or is the "to hit" a larger factor than I guessed? I don't know how to calculate that or compare that in there to the other stats.

In the post CU world, the formerly key factors in determing the combat capablity of a critter have been tossed out the window in favor of the lazy "angry bag" approach that is part of the abomination that is the "level system"

So all that carefully compiled data at swgcreatures.com is useless.

Eventually, say six months to a year down the road, minimum, the wild mobs will actually be balanced. But don't count on it. I suspect that instead the wild mobs will be ignored, you're only supposed to advance on mission lairs now. The virtual reality aspect of SWG has been sacrificed in order to meet a marketing deadline.

I loathe marketing twits with the intensity of 10,000 burning suns. They ruin everything, they intentionaly degrade quality, they intentionaly sabotage relationship building. All for the love of Mammon, the true deity of the United States of America.

The creature system is so messed up it ain't funny. Sad to see so many things rushed and poorly looked over.

Instead of cookie cutter stats and abilities, all creatures/pets should be judged on level, size, special attack, and defences. This way they can factor in the HAM.

Example: A level 22 Female Narglatch has tough skin and musle, medium in stature among others of its kind. Mainly known as a scrapper lair cat on Naboo, this creature has no special forms of attack. Its claws and teeth are its main weapons (321 max dam). With low level resistances to many weapons, the Narglatch's prime defence is its high level of HAM.

Stalker-Agressive-Scrapper-low resistances-no special attacks-dense flesh for 7700 HAM. (Female Narglatch lvl 22)

Exmaple 2: A level 50 Rancor is a feirce killing machine. Its hard dense body able to absorb many attacks. Large in Stature and massed in muscle, the Rancor is a force to reckon with. Its frame is large but mainly a protective shell. The Rancor has a natural special attack and their strength does great damage (max should be 600 not 360 or what ever).

Agressive-brute strength-high resistances-special attack for 5k HAM. (Rancor lvl 50)

The differance between the two is, the rancor does not need tons of HAM when he has high resistances.

Just a way to look at it.

But I will agree. Some creatures and CH level control need to be raised. Some pets are just way to easy to kill and if the level system restricts things, how can our 1 level 70 pet even hope to stand against something level 80+.
Watch how fast a level 80 player with a 1100 powerhammer beats your Rancor to pieces.
Now assault armor is reaching 8k kinetic stats, what good is 300 kinetic damage verse that or Force Armor?
A Rhino in real life can pierce and flip a Jeep! Get the picture? Wheres the real damage?
Not all pets should be ELITE, but a MCH should control pets that are superior to what is in game now.

You know, what should be in place is that the CH should have a stronger effect on their pets. Such as if I take care of my pet well, feed it lots, exercise it, train it well (can't really factor that in), then it should be superior to it's wild siblings.

If you tame a horse and train it well and take good care of it it will become better, also it will be more versatile and willing to do stuff for it's trainer.

Not only that but there should be more trainable attacks, more specials. With any pet you train it to your liking, but you train it lots so it can do lots. Heck specials are a pretty open to providing a lot of versatility to pets.

And the HAM also is a good one for more versatility, say to how the pet is raised will increase or keep the same the health. I mean why not?

And it's a sick joke how so many animals aren't balanced to what they represent. Such as the rancor comment, they need to do more dmg. They should be something to fear. I agree with narglatch, they are good as is. But some just don't seem right.

It would be cool to give creatures a range of max health that could be attained. Then based on CH level, feeding, or other actions they could come out closer to the top of the health range. If you dont work with your pets they come out on the low end of the max health range. this would give some accomplishment to the CH, much like an AS who can craft a fine suit of armor based on acquiring the best resources and exp tapes. It would also be neat if you could "unlock" the specials in your pet. In other words taming a baby animal will learn all it is going to learn from you and what it experiences. So by using it in combat it accrues points or whatever to unlock each of its specials, essentially learning through its own experiences. This could also be tied into the level of CH as it is already with training special attack commands. I dont know it might be complicated of a system, but it could give some individuality to CH.
