Like many others, I have come back to galaxies after a year with the prospects of the new combat balance. Hoping to see a more balanced mixed (not all TKA), and a more star wars like world. I have been buzzing around the forums, and have been wondering about the BE situation. It seems like BE pets are the only way to go? other than a handful (not even sure how many) of elites. It used to be that my favorite part of the game was taking advantage of the very large worlds and exploring looking for pets. Will I be completely useless if I am using tamed pets now? And is this something the Devs are looking into if it is true? Thanks a lot.

I came back after a long period of MIA too. I still prefer wild pets coz:

1. They are FOC.

2. I enjoy the sense of achievement of taming them myself, esp those prized creatures.

I know stats wise BE pets are better but so far I find wild ones are tanking quite ok too, esp now they fight at the highest CL of the grp.

PS: I'm using some 2 yrs old pets, like the CL50 gurreck, CL62 webmaster etc but I've already replace half of my datapad with new CL69/70 pets within the 1st week I came back. I hope the new pets will serve me well. Unlike the respec MCH, those who grind MCH via the hard way will know the skill of taming better so it won't be too much of a prob to find new high lvl wild pets.

Wild pets have another, HUGE advantage over bioengineered pets. Size. CL70 bio-engineered pets are insanely big.. ridiculously big.. big as in a real hassle when grouping big. I find myself calling out my gaping spider hunter when grouped as a result. Much smaller, easier to manage, and frankly not all that much weaker. Once it remembers it has special attacks, it could very well end up even better than most of what I've engineered so far. I desperately wish they'd give bio-engineers a way to manipulate the size of a pet to a reasonable extent.

also with the oh-so-balanced hate system, i find i may as well be using a level 3 gnort once i start firing on the target, i will never have or find a pet that does more damage than my rifle, so my pets really play no role besides pulling a target away from the crowd, which i can do with a gnort just as easily as i can with a swamp stalker hehe.

"But what about the poor creature handlers? Well, they might have to consider themselves among the most shafted of player segments in MMO history."

And I experience the opposite. I solo'd Jagged Fang last night (she has 25k hp) andI spammed specials the whole time: Heads shot, kneecap, Overcharge. At novice these aren't that impressive, maybe 800 damage against a mob that is even con. My pet never lost agro and only 1/2 his health.

If you ar a Master Rifleman, you are the game's Wizard, the big nuker. A pet shouldn't be able to out taunt/agro those nukes, imo.

LOL 3 Gnorts...I was wandering Naboo last night looking for female narglatchs and wandered across some Faamba spawns...these are lvl 22 as well so I was thinking what an interesting attack 3 of those would look like...LOL
