Here's how it works.
4. Since you gained all the XP from the pet, you SHOULD be able to learn the ability from the pet.
I think shes implying that she will teach the ability so that pet will have the abiltity... I dont think she means that you will be able to learn it as well
Roguestar
Rats.

Side Note: Sorry for the confusion, but I was not including Pinning L1 in my set.

What's been noted is that a pet cannot teach a CH it's abilities after another CH has gained training XP with the pet.
If a CH fully matures a pet, then the pet learns a new ability, I have not seen any tests of whether or not the training CH can learn the abilities.
I'd be willing to test it with a low CL pet, as long as another CH fully matures it.

WARNING - You can not learn an ability from a pet that has already been used in combat, by anothertoon. If the pet has any amount of XP earned, while in the care of another CH, you will not be able to learn the ability that it possesses. This includes abilities that have been trained by another CH. Pets that have been tamed by someone else, and then traded to a new master, can have their Ability learned, just as long as the pet does not have any gained XP.

I tested this out many different times while still on TC. Each and every single time, I was unable to learn the Ability.
It was also stated by the DEVs that you would not be able to learn an ability from another persons pet., that they /train'd.
This is the part I'm focusing on... "used in combat, by anothertoon". The "This includes abilities that have been trained by another CH" statement is still based upon the teaching CH using the pet in combat as written above.
I'm going to test this with a friend. He will tame a pet, fully mature it, and I will teach it and give it back without ever using it. I will also try having him unlock one ability slot and doing the same thing.
Everything I read has the stipulation not to have the teach CH use the pet in combat.
Not disagreeing, I just read a different situation than the one stated.

No matter how you attempt to pass on the Ability, it will not pass on unless the pet was tamed with the already present.
This is what was stated by Keldarin, in the CH focus thread that was available while the system was on TC.
