either you grind ch smart or you grind for months. you wouldn't see a 3/4/4/4 TKA taking sand beetle missions, ch is no different. find what gives you the most xp per (whatever unit of time your prefer), if it's the squill cave then hop to it.
once in a while i'll group with a guildmate or two and go rancor hunting. using a desert squill (suprisingly tough little suckers) i get 1400 ch xp per rancor... if you figure 10 rancors per lair (which would be well below average from my expirence) that's 14k xp in a few minutes.
would that be cheating? nah, just leveling up the smart way
you won't find many master CH's that never used static spawn locations or very high end mobs to level. ch is a long grind, use everything you can think of to maximize your ch xp. we won't think less of you
There is really no "smart" way or "right" way to grind CH. There are 2 schools of thought.
The first being the quick grind, going out and hitting the Geo Cave, Squill Cave, Fort Tuskin, etc, etc. Basically, you use a lower level pet then what you are killing, go in for the fight, and then sick your pet on it towards the end if not sooner and get the xp on it. With a lot of high end mobs, you can make a killing.
The second school of thought isthe casual player, like myself. Basically what this intales is that you always have a pet out, where able. When you hunt, it's out ready to kill. When you go to help others, it's there ready to go. You don't target just high end mobs, you just use it when ever, against whatever. You also do a lot of tame, train and releases (granted this could be a 3rd school of thought in it's own for the non combat CHs). Takes a little longer, but ya still get there.
As I was saying, there is really no "smart" or "right" way to grind CH, you grind it how you feel. If your goal is to hurry up and hit Master, then by all means, hit the Squill Cave and kick there afro headed tuckuses. If you Don't like the thought of the quick grind then just be a causal player. Either way, do what is fun for you.
My 2c worth, take it for what you will.
