The best bet is a BE created level 15 or 16 pet in the skin of you choice. You want to get at least 60% kinetic resists or close to it. If you can find one with AR1 even better.

the best pet for any givne situation is (and i knwo this isnt very helpful) the one your msot comfortable using yes sometimes a ranged pet is better than a melee pet overall or a fast pet is more hlpe than a big slow one but if your not used tot he way a tpye of pet acts or you jsut dont liek that type that much then despite its on paper disadvantages another pet might work better for you for me one of my all time best pets is my first tame a female kaadu ive even used her against rancors in group hunts and she does well, is she the best pet for the job, definatly not, is she often the best pet for me to use for the job often shes damn close evne whne she doesn't win this race, the reaosn simple, shes my first tame and i knwo her beter thna any of my other epet,s i know how much dmaage she cna take i know how fast her hams are likely to drop and i know whne shes likly to break and run as wll as how far sh'll go and if she'll outdistance any persuers
