Have you tried /tame?
It may be just be a bug in the toolbar itself. The tame slot may have had a attack in it previously and its not fleshed back out.

From my experiance, almost any action that can be combat-related on any level/form will trigger a combat role for you default attack, if you have one set. This includes healing when not being in active combat, masking scent, equipting/unequipting/changing weapons and probably many more that I don't know of.
So it wouldn't suprise me if it did a default combat action right after hitting the tame quick-slot.

Joker wrote this in a thread once
Whatever you do DO NOT HAVE ANY ATTACKS SET TO DEFAULT ATTACK WHEN YOU PRESS THE TAME BUTTON!!!!!!!! Because currently there is a bug that will actually make you attack the baby if you have any moves selected as default attack.

We could actually make use of this bug if they would just give us a tranquilizer gun.

when i tried to tame creatures on the EP3 TC i ran into a very weird bug.
everytime i hit the tame icon on my toolbar i shot the baby. its not that it was an unsuccessful tame attempt after which i got aggroed. the second i hit tame i shot it. so i put away my gun and tamed the next baby. this time it worked - but i got the error sound u get when using a ranged attack with a melee weapon. so i guess the devs must have defined /tame as a new ranged attack.
it would be very nice if they could fix this before the CU goes live.

Don't you guys realize that they are just making the game more realistic? This is actually the way that 'some' people tame/raise their young ones... (ok that wasnt really funny...)
