Thread: Can CH's survive in the CU with no other combat profession?

I'm thinking about Master CH, Master BE, Ranger 0030 for my alt.

Is CH strong enough to keep me alive or will I be forced to take an elite ranged combat profession instead of CH? (I care more about BE, I just like the idea of BE/CH)

Soon, I discovered, that this force thing was true,
Exar Kun was the devil,
Vader was an architect previous to his career as a Sith,
All of a sudden I found myself in love with the Empire,
So there was only one thing that I could do,
Was, ding-a-ding dang my dang-a-long ling long

honestly , i have tried mrifle/mch, and i couldn't survive for long alone...seems if you group you are ok..solo play you're dead, simple as that

Considering they're pushing for groups now, I don't think it's going to matter a whole heck of a lot what other profession you have, whether combat or non-combat. The reason being is they're classifying CH as a jack-of-all-trades. What that means is that your pets are your combat. Anything else is icing on the cake. Since grouping will be the thing, you will be the one standing back telling your pets what to do, not attacking the target directly. Healing your pets is another thing you could be doing---but this can draw aggro. Medic/MCH might be good if you're combat oriented. It would be a good addition to a group.

I'm going non-combatant. I'm so used to not being viable for combat as a CH that I don't care anymore if my pets cut the mustard post-CU. I will probably give it a try (grouping), but I won't be surprised if my pets die a quick death. But since we're supposed to be grouping now, I doubtwe'll have a problem no matter what other profession we have.

The one thing I fear is that I won't be able to tap lairs without a combat profession. This means I'll have to look longer and harder for babies. But being a BE I could make my own. So I'm sure it will balance out.

I am seriously testing on using this following template MCH, 0304 SL, 0030 ranger, all 4 tiers in carbineer and all the prerequisites. I will now become what they think I am supposed to be, a combat support class. After 1 month I will let you know just how few groups want to spare their limited (loud word) space to have me along for nothing but tracking abilities , squad bonuses, and some minor damage dealing abilities.

I could keep my master swords but frankly I am tired of it. I am going to just use my pets and see how idiotic their ideas are. I figure if I can no longer play the game I bought I might as well do my best to test out this profession for others. Someone has to do it.

You might end up being more than a support class. MCH/MCarbineer & MCH/MBH are reportedly able to solo jedi relatively well using 3 level 20 pets. I didn't test so I don't know .. the arguments sounded good though.

If you are wanting to do combat then all you would have as your pets to fight with and would have to primarily rely on others to do the fighting. Now Master Bio Engineers are needed to help take down factional bases and my master bio engineer has recieved a lot of tells to join pvp groups. Scout is also very valuable if u are out hunting a specific creature and can speed up the time it takes to find it. When they made the Krayt Boom it devalued it because Kraytsnow spawn like rabbits.

Guess what am trying to say is you can still have fun and do that template.

Just an FYI while we're talking about CH and other professions. An excerpt from the Combat Upgrade FAQ:

SKILL RESPEC QUESTIONS: Customers will be able to respec once every 12 hours for the first two weeks after Combat Upgrade launch. Customer Service will not be able to assist with manual resets. To reset your skills, use the following command: /ui action skillsRespec

So feel free to experiment.

Aye .. This would be a non-combatant for the most part. I shouldn't even have to grind any of the CH. It's just there for the occasional aggro while DNA sampling.

I even have a few old pets from the first few months of live that I never deleted when I dropped CH, it'd be nice to see them again
