I am a musician but the other skills I am training in is CH
I don't currently have much in it but I am wondering, if ch is my only form of combat can I still be remotly effective if at least on missions, don't really care about pvp.
I'd like to get rid of my novice rifleman skills to be able to train more in CH. Thanks

unfortunately at the current time i would say no..you would not be very effective at combat with ch as your sole form of combat...this may change after the cu..ch works well as a compliment to a combat profession, not well as a stand alone

You really need to have some combat capabiltiy other than CH, because the critters don't do a whole lot of damage, especially when you start looking at higher endcontent which will outdamage them and put them in danger of being taken out of the fight. Critters are fine against meatlumps, gualamas, and other low to mid range mobs, but once you get into the mid to upper range, you'll need some serious damage dealing ability to avoid your critters being beaten to incapacitation.
I'd recommend, as a minimum, one full branch of either brawler or marksman to go with CH. Ranged isa bit better because the pet tanks for you and you inflict the damage, but you can still work brawler with it, unarmed and two handed seem to go very well with CH.
