Just spent about a month working furiously to Master CH. I wish I would have read these posts before I decided to take on that grind. STOP! Dont get me wrong, its an amazing profession, and I dont think i will be able to let it go now that I mastered. But aside from showing off big pets and mounting pets for people, its the most depressing thing I have ever experienced while playing SWG. Im glad I did it with an alt character. My Main Character is the typical tank TKM/Fencer/Medic/FS melee and ranged defenses with some scout. I wanted creature handler fora vacation from Guild leadership and managing a city with my co-Leaders and mayor. Thats what I got a vacation from battle and the FS grind. I spent most of my time grinding up Ch by using a Bio-engineered Bantha and fighting low level creatures here and there and on Dantooine with groups of guild members. Thats when i started to realize what a joke it is in Combat. I want to cry really. I imagined CH to be a great way to hold Rancors at bay while I pounded the mind with a T21. Im also Ranger 4/4/4/0 and am charged with gathering resources needed for armor and Medical supplies. Once i mastered of course I purchased a high level Kimogila thinking thats all the tank I would need to go get my resources and have relative safety. Man was I way off, Its just unbelievable how buggy Kimogilas are. Maybe its just an odd occurance but everytime I tell the dang thing to attack it drags the target 200 meters away and dies because Im not there to heal it every 15 seconds or kill the creature for it. (talkin Rancors here though) So there went my plans for CH. The thrill of the hunt is gone because I cant hunt what I want the way I wanted to. Stop reading if you are planning your retaliation and go to the next post. I just have to put something here to add to the list of disgruntled CH's.
I read Verts post and already i have experienced all of those problems and am hoping for his suggestions to be implemented. I just had to gripe. Also I just cant believe how weak a master Ch really is! Master usually means good.
I dont want Ch to be ramatically increased or anything, because it would just get nerfed again.
Basically I think the only way to have a chance of bringin Creature handlers up a notch would be to Increase the Chs effectiveness in PvE and not PvP. I for one didnt pick up CH to go sick kimos on Jedi. I picked Ch so I could Roleplay a hunter and have some fun with some virtual pet friends. AAAARRRRGHHH!!! its pointless isnt it, SOE just doesnt give a damn. It almost makes me want to submit a ticket saying if CH doesnt get improved I will drop the 4 accounts i have running between my fiance and I and take the other 7 people I got to play the game with me. Yeah Dont respond to this anyone. Im just tired of SOE not givin a damn about anything but jedi and new swoop tracks. Not to mention the all important new loots. Man that new loot add saved the game there. Chs pissed everywhere but lets sit down and design new couches and posters and swoop tracks, how about a radio that doesnt do squat. Oooh ooh I know I know A HEADLESS DROID!!! THATS IT!! PERFECT!! "Hey Bob, whos job was it to check the CH forum?"
"Uhhh I think it was Freds job but he died 9 months ago" "oh really think we should check it then?" "Naaah, there are plenty of CHs playing there must not be a problem with it." "yeah your right, want to make a new item?how about a broken cdef this time, with no handle?" " thats a great idea man! lets do that right now"
Sound about right to anyone?
Sry for any devs who read this one...I honestly didnt think you would and I dont speak for other CHs just myself..because I cant believe what you did to this profession.

you touched on a lot of issues i would have to agree with..ch is not a strong profession, i realized that early on..but what attracted me is the abilty to go out alone anytime and hunt for my rares..i have all but the wild dune boar, and i haven't speant a lot of time searching for it lately, partly because once i find it (a baby) there will really be nothing left to do with ch..don't get me wrong..i don't think i will ever drop it, as it is a great although expensive (sp) compliment to rifle...i really wish the devs would give us some new rares to hunt, nothing dramatic even, they could use existing meshes, just something new to go out and tame, but you are right the headless droids are far more valuable to the game..the fact i cannot appreciate the contribution that a headless droid makes to the game, means i am one of those "fringe" players the devs would probably rather not have around, lol...
btw you can hold rancors at bay, i do..just need some pet stims following each round...a good bio'ed cat is what you want for that...the kimo is absolutely useless, and serves no purpose other than asthetics...ch definatly needs some pve improvement, i fell for those with ch as thier only means of combat...on the rare occasions i do pvp, i never use pets anyhow as that extra 9 seconds isn't really going to be of help..i don't enjoy spamming specials for 15min just to reveal who has the better skill mods..to me there is no skill in spamming specials..a jedi will beat a tkm everytime, what's the point in wasting 20 min to find that out? but i digress

yeah haha, I just had to post, servers were down...my pets were buggy....its just not fair! /pout lol hehe Im better now
All though Option One isnt the Creature Handler, My name is Grieven on Chilastra as well. He told me not to post ever again using his name and that im supposed to make it known lol.

Option<------- Love how my brother tries to take Credit for my characters. But i have to agree with the way Ch is set up. It must suck.

i agree with everyone you said.
unfortunately, vert, the correspondent sees absolutely nothing wrong with CHs like you and i do. what do you expect the devs to do when the CH correspondent is telling them that all we need is more pet tricks. is it any wonder that 99% of CHs have disappeared into other professions or left the game entirely? my advice is to rant and live with it or rant and quit. i quit. it felt quite good.

Umm what are you talking about? Vert is very well aware of our profession problems and personalconcerns about CHand I have full faith hes doing everything he can to make sure we get what we need in the Curb.

Umm what are you talking about? Vert is very well aware of our profession problems and personal concerns about CH and I have full faith hes doing everything he can to make sure we get what we need in the Curb.
I definitely agree with Joker. Vert has been and is watching out for us in the CURB.

So what boards have you been reading? Vert is all over the issues and reports them. You know what, he's not a Dev though, his job is to report the issues/ represent our wants and that's it. When the issues/wants get done is not up to him. It doesn't matter if he calls each Dev at home everynight at tells them how much he thinks CH should change or what we need, the Devs will make changes when they can and no sooner.
You think Vert is a bad cor because CH has gone so long without any changes or improvments, do me a favor, hop over to the Pistol forums,sumggler,Bounty Hunter,Polearms, and see how long they've been waiting for and wanting changes made. Depsite what you may think there are a mass of things going on in this game and the Devs can only do so much.

Vert, has all the issues covered from what i read. We really need complete control over our pets. He has the issues on that posted. We need more power, he has suggestion for that too. Also Vert doesnt post like hes power THIRSTY. CH need to have a leg to stand on, but I dont think the main reason we all chose CH was to be able to take on Nightsister Elders. Its the creatures themselves that should make the profession appealing. So more creatures is also posted in Verts post. Also I love the bullet about having the ability to put tamed creatures on Vendors or drop them in houses. Its not very logical that the only place a Rancor will fit is in a palm pilot. Let alone 21 pets stuffed in a data pad. Where are they? They spawn from nowhere when you call them hehe. If Ch had stables it might be more logical that they hop on the shuttle and run to you from the stable they are held in 15 seconds.
I think Verts doing a great job personally, hes the cor and he does his job well to make ALL the issues known.
If you could suggest anything to him it might be to put the desired changes in order of importance.
I just inteded this post to be another rant, I had to do it (sorry Op) but the main point I want to make is people everywhere have problems with thier professions. I think the devs might have better luck with players sticking around if they started fixing important things instead of ADDING non-relevant material ie droid body with no head. WOW another backpack that you cant wear. And i know everyone rushed to the new swoop tracks to try to get a new badge.
What about the broken aspects that go untouched. WHY dont they get attention. Yes the devs have a lot to do, but why would they take the time to ADD more stuff when they have sooo much to do?

Vert has been trying to get the Devs to listen to anything we have to say, but they're not interrested. He didn't get CH nerfed. The 1337 Uber wannabe's that would drag around 3 Rancors so they could "pwn j00" got CH nerfed. Originally the CH profession was over-powered and I personally think that the skill tree getting reorganized would have been enough (pets didn't need to be nerfed to the degree they were). However, SoE only listens to one group at a time, and they were only hearing CH was too powerful. It would have been nice if the CURB would have at least in Alpha testing before they nerfed pets.
