I started to post a reply but realized i have nothing positive to say, only snarky things. I hope some of you who still have faith in the devs can post some good ideas there, but I pretty much feel that anything they offer us in terms of mount options will pretty much be demanded by the rest of the nonCH population for speeders, and they'll give in and give it to them.
For the sake of it, here's what I was going to post.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I really hope my fellow CHs have some positive suggestions because at the moment I'm too bitter to make constructive comments. I think it's great you're trying to throw us a bone, but I have my doubts that it matters at this point.
Here's some possible functionality:
- Make it so pets don't disappear in the middle of a fight
- Make it so they don't stand there staring at you blankly, ignoring all your commands
- Make it so that they aremore than5 second cannon fodder
- Give MCHs mounts that are representative of their Master status and ability or are at least in some way unique. Something that would inspire awe or respect instead of snickers ("OMG! A CH?! I thought they were extinct! Pets are lame! What a moron.")
Some 'pie in the sky' suggestions:
- Use of specials on a mount with no damage reduction. Perhaps with an accuracy reduction, but not a damage one. Potential for grief you say? Not when any PvPer can kill your mount from under you in 3 whacks before you can even begin to kite them. Melee combatants have to stay in close range, so it's not like you can kite as a melee person on the back of a mount anyway.
- Remove the delay on storing pets after combat. Other professions don't have the 60 sec delay after combat. Here are some facts. You cannot store a pet in combat. You cannot call a pet in combat. The delay is meaningless in regard to preventing 'griefing'. Besides, no self-respecting CH would use their pets in PvP unless they enjoy watching it die in 10 secs flat and suffer the corresponding vitality loss.
But honestly, given that CHs now represent about 1% of the total player population, I'm pretty sure than any benefits you give to mounts will soon thereafter be granted to bikes in order to satisfy the demands of the other 99% of the population.Something that would effectivelynullify any use for creature mounts, yet again.

I'm also having to bite my tongue at all the ignorant posts of nonCHs, such as:
"THis would be for MOUNTS only, because combat pets are already insanely strong."
Honestly, this discussion should not even involve nonCHs until CHs have had a complete concept pass/discussion directly with the devs (like the alpha CURB testers get before the rest of us schlubs). We're going to end up getting a ton of 'functionality' we neither want or asked for, I'm sure.

I put in my two cents there, but yeah, some of the comments from the Muggles are pretty ridiculous.

Think about what happened a year ago and then read what you just said.

Please go to In Concept and then go to the Concept Forum. And then.....Post, Post, and Post again.
While I agree I had to bite my tongue and not scream and pull my hair out at reading some of the noob posts, I did post and put out only suggestions. No flames or complaints. But I did point them here twice...lol. We have to jump whemever we get a chance. How many Dev posts have you seen here lately?? I think mounted combat is very doable. If they are looking for some kind of quick fix right now...so be it..I am still going to give them the spew. Remember our saddle bag idea, mounted armor, pets attacking while mounted? Well post it! And also mention how much better it would be if mounts/pets could be purchased through a special vender tent/corral.

Those where diff times, the Devs have been way more level headed since then. Besides, I don't think there is one person on the Dev staff who thinks they did the right thing back then. If they had it to do over I bet it would have been completley diff.

Yeah, the devs actually did learn from that experience, because the result of doing part of a combat rebalance and then stopping has plagued the game to this day, and is the reason that the CURB is getting the attention that it is getting. The game was put badly out of balance by the Great Nerf of the Creature Handlers (in reality, it was the nerf of the creatures themselves that did it) along with the bollixing up of the NPCs. Making PvE "too easy" for high end players, and simultanously turning PvP into an unbalanced, monotone mess has inflicted grave wounds on the game. If it didn't have "Star Wars" In the title, it might well be dead by now.
