i just became a novice ch and was wonderin the easiest way to level up. i also want to know the highest level pets i can control now. and the best way to progress to master ch.

well i can tell u what i did i just made master the 4th time so and the best way and fastest is what i did. was i tamed a dune bantha they are lev 17 and i am also a master swordsman before i statred CH. so hopefuly ur a master combat class starting to do CH. if not you be takeing the slow route.

but i tamed a dune bantha and waited till he was full grown wich takes a 5 days hopefuly you can find 1 to buy off of a CH that might hve 1 on him to sell you should look into that. then after u get that a low lev full grown pet. and master of ur combat class. go to danth and get in a solo grp and do the horned vortal missions and tank for your pets so they survive the combat/ with each kill you will get 1000 xp per. and i made master i think in less then a week of grinding. mind you i wanst grinding the whole time i was in game.

Depends whether you want to grind or have fun

A combat profession is really a must whilst you are levelling CH - otherwise it will take forever to get to master.

There are 2 main ways to get CH XP

1.) Tame and train

This works OK at low levels (up to 1-1-1-1).

Get yourself a set of +25 taming clothing, tame everything in sight and train it with as many commands as you have and release it.

Skills to get first are those which add more commands (and hence give more XP per creature trained).

For level1 skills this works since your pet can't handle creatures that give you more than a couple of hundred XP per kill, but once you get to the level 2 skills most of your XP will come from

2.) Hunting

Your pet will get full XP from hitting the target just once. This is why a combat skill is a must - let your pet hit the critter once then blow the target apart with your gun/sword/etc.

Go for creatures at the maximum level you can handle based on your (not your pets) combat ability.

It used to be the case that multiple pets would give multiple XP - so people got Management 3 first and used 2 low level pets to hunt yard trash for rapid XP - THIS NO LONGER WORKS! Consequently, you need to kill big creatures to get XP at a reasonable rate.

Level 2 and above your pet can actually withstand hits from the tougher critters (which is why you can't do this easily early on) - but it will be down to you to kill the target since pets do so little damage!

Any way you do it, getting to MCH now takes a long time compared to the other professions - so best advice is to "live it" and take the XP as it comes. Trying to grind CH is really dull (without the use of AFK macros - which I won't go into here).

One final point - for low level hunting pets (sub CL 25), try and get a bio-engineered pet with good KE resists (50+) and decent HAM (7000+). These are far superior to the wild pets you can tame. At higher levels BE'd pets are not nearly so over-powered in comparison to thier wild counterparts.

Oh - and the highest level pet you can control at Novice is CL12.

Open your skills box (ctrl-s) and check the skills listing to the left (second box down). In there will be the "Max pet level" you can control(can't remember the exact wording).

Bear in mind that some creatures also have a viciousness rating and your ability to control and tame vicious creatures is determined by your level too - which is why you won't initially be able to tamelow level aggresive creatureswithout BE'd clothing or being a wookie!

One other note on hunting. There is a ratio between the pet CL and the MOB CL that determines the amount of XP you will get. It varies depending on what you hunt. If your pet is too high you get 1 point and if it is too low you do not get as much experience. I have fooled with this for some time and there is no rhyme or reason to it. I use a level 15 pet on Slinking Voritor Hunters, CL 57, and get 1040 points. I use a level 12 and only get 960 points and level 18 gives me 960 points. On other creatures of the same level I get more points with a cl 18. You just have to play with it with each MOB.
