Thread: Does the KnockDown special actually work?

I thought I remembered someone in here saying once that the KD special on pets was 'broken'. Is that the case?

A CH friend of mine wants me to make him a pet with KD and I wouldn't want him to be disappointed if it didn't work. He has some plan of putting a dizzy state on the mob with his weapon and then getting the pet to knock it down.

Even though I'm a CH/BE, I never use KD pets since I prefer Blind and Intimidate, with Poison being another favourite

Any help appreciated before I make him a (possibly) non-working pet.

Thanks - exactly the information I needed. I'll talk to him about Blind, Intimidate and Poison I think

GFoyle, Short and sweet You are wrong!

I use it all the time. I have a Rhoa Kwi Packleader it has knowdown. I use it as a macro and it works great. Know it does not work on some creatures but works great on NPC's and players. The Kwi can get them in a knockdown loop and continuely knock them down as I shoot them with my carbine. It is incredably effective.

I had wondered about this as often, when using my ronto as a tank against stormtroopers he gets hit with dizzy and falls over the same way i do.

ARGH!!!

Mea Culpa - I've got my head stuck back in the "dark ages"!

I think there used to be a problem - but checking the BE boards it looks like it got fixed a month or so back!

Apologies for screwing this up!

(Goes back to experiment with KDDizzy on pets.............)

Gfoyle, I do not know about BE pets, I do not use them, it maybe broke in them. I boycott BE pets for use, not because I am against BE profession in anyway but as a protest to SOE for destroying CH profession. I have an amazing zoo on corbantis in Polygon Valley so I have purchased every pet that a BE can make but I will not tame them.

I have never had a Mountain Dewback use Knockdown on me, and I have slaughtered many in the past few weeks.

My Mountain Dewback has yet to deliver a successful knockdown. Neither has my Grand Wrix or my Huurton (well she is one of the Huurtons, I can't believe I can't remember which type, I have had her for a year now)

However, when I had a Ravenous Torton, he used it on his own all the time. I have not had one since we got the commands for this, but he might be one to try.

So it seems it might be more specific to the type of pet.

Actually I think I have seen my Grand Wrix use Posture Down from time to time, I wonder if he really has a CrippleStrike and it was mislabeled. I will have to test that. I know my Gurreck has Cripple

Your probably not aware fo this Ecco but Kwi Packleaders don't have the knockdown special. They have Dizzy and Crippling Strike, which is a posture down attack. When Dizzy and you change postures you have a good chance of falling down, thus it appears your Packleader has knockdown.

If someone wants KD/Dizzy for a pet what you realy want is Dizzy/Crippling Strike, it works quite well on low and mid level NPC mobs. Not so good on 100+ level npc's who seem to have dizzy defenses. It dosn't do anything to creature mobs though.

Dizzy doesn't but cripplestrike is the thing to use when you can't get that creature off your back.
If the creature bypasses your pet and runs for you. Have your pet cripplestrike him. You run away and your pet will get the agro. Probability of creature changing targets to your pet 90%.

Galacium already caught the bit about Rhoa Kwi. In fact, I used Rhoa Kwi Guardians and Packleaders to get the cripple/dizzy special in my BE creations.

Make a dizzy/crippling strike pet. I use one in combination with a stun/intimidate twin. Between the two I can fight any single target up to CL 70 using only the pets, and can also handle many NPCs.

I did BE for a bit, I went up to 2044, actually 2244 on last day for some pet stim b's

I made a nice trio. 3 Gurrcats. 2 CL25, one blind/cripple one stun/cripple. Last one is CL20 with stun/intimidate. All three have Light Armor and between 9.5 and 10.8K in Health with >50% kinetic resists. I like them, but would gladly give them up for a trio of pre nerf Grand Wrix

Got the CL20 with Armor by having a fail on experimentation which gave me one more try at fortitude, and I hit it at 502
