i keep on stumbling across babies that are "tamable" but I cant tame them, can someone clarify the list of babies that 1-1-0-0 can tame?

You can tame creatures up to lvl 16 (check www.swgcreatures.com for further info on what creaturesare existing up to that lvl). And don't forget to use some taming clothes.
