I hadn't planned on following the "I tamed a rare!" theme here, but tonight deserves some crowing. I've been looking for a mantigrue screecher and arachne widow for about 3 weeks straight. I've lived out of the Endor Southern outpost and done more screecher misions than I can count (actually the thing I can count is 64k hides while those were good and then 41k meats after the hides shifted out...all from screechers). I've also hit every queen/widow liar I found along the way and I gotten nothing for about 3 weeks. Seen and tamed webmaster babies, enough warrior babies to fill my entire pad if I was so inclined, piggies and kittens like you wouldn't believe, a blurgg baby, but not a whiff of screechers or widows.
Credits from the screecher missions have piled up and that's been a nice side effect though
Anyway today I prepared to do my usual string of screecher missions/exploration of the zone E and SE of the research outpost. Right off the bat still within calling range of the outpost to the direct East I found a 4-some wild screecher lair and set upon that. Got a bit careless and ended up with 6 screechers on my Gurreck and 2 on me and took a mind disease
Clone -> Threed -> Cantina -> back to Endor and I resolved to stick to predictable mission lairs
While in Theed bandaging my Gurreck up I chatted with a Lowca BEAST member (Tabbacco or some similar spelling), I'm creditting him with giving me some of his mojo while showing me all his rares
Took out those two mission lairs (both East of the outpost) and started back toward the outpost. While passing that same wild lair I said...aw what the heck and took out the four around the lair. Waited on the repop (no shooting the lair this time dummy) and on the third or the four....BABY!!
Taming clothes (PLUG: made by Daenera of Mos Levity) on, almond paste food (whatever it's called) and jawa beer (PLUG: both by motzer of Mos Levity) tamed the bugger on the first try
Took him right back to the outpost and trained and named him (Smaug) then figured, may as well to a quick check for arachne. 500m out from the outpost to the SE (still within call radius again) I find a queen/widow/widow wild lair and get to work. First round falls fast, second round falls fast, get impatient (/smack head) shoot lair, third round pops, fourth round pops 2 seconds later (doh!) BUT an arachne widow (baby)!!! New taming food, new jawa beer, taming clothes back on. Queens (remember there's two of em) pop my mask scent twice, but on the second they aggro and I can pull them away from the lair by themselves. Head back and on the 2nd try...Tamed!
So there we have it. Nearly 3 full weeks of drought. Honestly I was thinking screecher babies were and elaborate myth dreamed up to initiate new (or in my case, newly resubscribed) MCHs. Anyway now I've finished off the Endor rares (well not counting useless Merek Death's Head) and I'm off to Dathomir for a Rhoa Kwi Pack Leader and a Bull Rancor.
Thanks for the assistance of the board and the folks that have reported on their tames. I wouldn't have believed they existed if you hadn't kept reporting em and thanks to Tabbacco (sorry if I'm misspelling), I hope I didn't take to much mojo
