Hi all,

i am Himura a CH of flurry. mastered it 1st time round in July 2003 b4 the 1st CH nerf.

Gave up master CH to hologrind and now that i had opened my FS, is in the progress of respecing my char back to its old template: master rifleman + master CH. Currently i am 60k exp away from mch and already done with master rifleman.

i am actually quite glad about the tweaks done to CH in terms of PvE but is really appalled with the state of affairs in terms of PvP role for CH.

1) PvE

Gone were the days where CH reined supreme withability to summon 3 lvl 50 pets simultaneously and whereby ZERO tactics is required. Despite the "nerfs", we CHs still r a force to reckon with in terms of PvE. i personally can solo enraged rancor missions on dathomir easily with right tactics w/o a single blow landed on me. In fact i am happy that CH is being "nerfed" in PvE and with the introduction of special 1 and 2, i can use poison/ stun/ dizzy on mobs through my pet =). Another good "side-effect" is that there are much lesser pple who want to do CH just because it is the so-called "uber" class (which is happening to rifleman/CM/elite melees now =(). Most remaining CHsare those pplewho truely love this profession.

2) PvP

i am really APPALLED by the state of affairs of CH's role in pvp now. Let me present my breakdown of what are the factors that hadcontributed to our weak state in pvp:

a) weakening of pets --> i.e removing medium armour from high end pets and light armour and mid lvl pets. Personally i feel that this is onli a small factor since with the BE revamp we CHs r still able to get some good with Ar1 and good resists.

b) buffs and armour--> what made CH effective, in fact uberly powerful last time, was the fact players can't wear armour and fight effectively last time.

But with buffs and armour now, damage from CH is ridiculously low. Imagine a elite melee wearing a 90%Kr composite against ur so-called uber pet (with 350-500damage)! It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out thatpvp damage ofpets r way too low! ( 1/4 x 1/10 x 3/4 of 500 damage = about 10damage) LOL! that's provided u can even connect against a melee during a fight. On the other hand our can be taken out in a matter of seconds!

c) no specific role--> while each combat prof has its specific role in pvp currently (despite varying degree of effectiveness), there seemed to be ZERO niche designed for us CHs.

Eg. Elite melees prof are taken for defense mods, rifleman for damage output, carbineer for status attackssuch as dizzy, KD and stun, CM for poison etc

CH??? errr dun seem to fit ANI role =p AND THIS IS WHERE I FEEL IS MOST IMPT TO ADDRESS

My humble opinions and suggestions:

1) Tweaks to pVe:

personally satisfied with this overall. Only 1 thing that bugged me terribly: can we have our exctinct pets back since they r no longer that overpowered : i.e Frenzied graul, king merek etc

2) Tweaks to pVp:

a) consideration to regain some of the pet's resist: i.e increase KR and energy resist cap to say maybe 75%

b) hmm abt buffs and armours? i do not like to start shouting for nerfs cos we CH had been at the receiving end for a long long time and i know what it feels like =X . i can live with low damage output for pets if pets can be used in pvp in other ways... Which is my main focus:

c) Specific role in pvp:

This is the most impt part and i think what puts alot of CH off! My vision for CH in pvp is not about being the most uber class but i want it to be a good supporting skill/ utility class(aka add on skill to ur other combat prof)

my suggestion:

enable CH to use specials ON MOUNTED PETS (ahem not on vehicle) atMaster CH.(and onli at MCH to prevent history from repeating itself... i.e novice CH deemed overpowered long long time ago)

CH on mounts can still be KDed/ dizzied but skill mods of resist against dizzy and resist againts knockdown ON MOUNT shd be added and spreaded evenly in all the CH trees.

This will have 2 effects:

i) enable mounted pets to be useful once again... mounted pets had become obsolete with intro of vehicles

ii) pvp role of CH partially addressed as it becomes a useful utility skill

imagine a elite melee + mch rides on his mount and charged into combat? This will enable the melee to catch up with ranged prof kiting him easily.

Similarly ranged prof + mch can kite away faster from melees that do not have mch

While some may say this is not enuff, but think abt the fact that with CL 70 u can call out a mount + another high lvl pet. The pet will serve as a status attack weapon. I.e add stun/poison/inti/dizzy etc. Therefore damage output of CH will no longer be impt in pvp

Yours sincerely,

Himura of flurry

Hi

At the moment nearly all MCH are not happy with the way CH has been nerfs, and thay then read your post saying: quote "i am actually quite glad about the tweaks done to CH in terms of PvE but is really appalled with the state of affairs in terms of PvP role for CH"..

It sounds to me that you do more PvP than PvE, is that the reasson you flame the PvE side of CH because that side of CH dose not intrest you. well some of us like and only do the PvE, but we don't stick post's on the forum mouning about PvP side of CH.... find state of affiars if MCH's want to put down the CH parts thier not intrested in, but the parts of CH thay are intrested in thay want them to be made better.. MCH = MCH so lets stick together 100%..

Then your next post reads: quote..

hmmm is my message too wordy that noones read it?

may be thats the reasson why thiers not many replys...

Most Creature Handlers don't give one whit about PvP. While all of your points might be valid for it, we have little basis for commenting about them. (Other than guaranteed vitality loss should we try.)

As for PvE, some of the changes were warrented. However it is your Master Rifleman that makes you good in PvE, not CH. Put down your gun and go hunting with just pets. You'll quickly find how ineffective those of us with no combat skills are.

this is right on target!
I am a rifleman/CH and I find myself 99% of the time saving my pets butts and not the other way around which it should be. The only thing my pets provide is additional time before the mob is on me... and I can put status effect with them which is nice about the specials... but it is truely to little to compensate.

Wild pets are prob about 1/10th as powerful as a pet vs themselves wild. I have a lvl 17 bagerset with 50% kinetic that gets its butt whiped by wild bagersets..

I don't know if this is true. I care a lot about PVP. I just can't do it as a creature handler because of the faults in the CH profession.

I am not saying every creature handler. Some really do enjoy PvP and would love to have their pets help them. I have no qualms about that and would hope you could have as much fun using pets as a rifle, a fist or whatever.

All I mean is that the majority of players are not interested in PvP, which means a majority of our profession is not either. (Not to mention being a CH is about as useful as being an Artisan in combat currently.) Those of us that are not interested therefore have little vested interest in the system.

Basically I was explaining to the poster why not many people were commenting about the original post. I did not mean to imply it was a worthless post if that is what came across.
