Hey all, I quit about a year ago almost, and i had a Master CH/TKA. Was wondering how much the 2 classes have changed since i quit

Get ready to laugh. Speaking of changes, I don't think you'll recognize KOTOR very much either.

Can't say much for TKA, but for CH your skill tree is completely different, your pets are completely different, you now are pretty worthless in PvP, and the bugs are such that you'll be hard pressed to play it at all. Have fun!

if we were to create a printout of all of the problems with ch, the earth would be blanketed in a sheet of darkness.

Like how do the pets work now? Do they perma die? I still got like 3 gurrecks left, a frenzied graul, arachne webmaster and one of the spiders from that planet where you would find the rancor and chicken looking things.

No, they don't permadie, but they lose vitality each time they die until they are useless. Most pets have lost their armor, and there's something strange about their damage in PvP now (someone combat will have to answer that one). The autostore bug is in full force worse than when you left, as is getting stuck, not listening to commands, standing on top of you, and things like that.In a wild-tamed rancor vs. an equal level wild rancor fight, the tamed one will die every time, and usually quite quickly.

The only pets worth anything right now are BE'd ones for fighting. Yes, they fixed those, so much so that wild animals are useless. If you need to make room in your datapad for BE'd animals, let me know because I prefer wild ones just for the sake of tradition. *cough* I'm especially interested in that frenzied.

Well, where to start? TKA would be the easiest. They are now thought of as Uber. With the addition of some pretty good armor and Doctor buffs they are practically invincible in PVE. IMO the best armor for PVE is Ubese with 72% kinetic resistance. For PVP the best is Composite Armor that can be sliced to 90% resistance. Doctors can buff all of your HAM bars except mind to add another 2000 to 2500 points for over 3 hours. The buff to your secondaries will cause your health and action to regenerate faster than you use it. You can drink brandy to buff your mind stats and get additional buffs to mind from listening to entertainers. An armored, buffed, TKM can tank better than anything that a MCH can use.

Alas, the Creature Handler has now been nerffed into uselessness. The entire skill tree has been redone and you have to get pretty high up in skills before you can see any benefit. CH is now one of, if not the most, difficult professions to level up. Most useful commands were moved up to near the top. You can now train certain creatures as mounts to ride but there are bikes in the game that are faster and better. You need at least Management III to be able to call out a second pet and master to call out 3. All pets have CL ratings that control what you can tame and call. As master you max CL is 70 and this is the total CL you can call at one time. You could call two CL 35 pets, 3 CL 22 pets, or 1 CL 70. You get small increases to your CL with each box in the skill tree.

You have some nice pets. The Frenzied babys were removed from the game. So that one is a collectors item and worth millions. The Webmaster was the same but has been reintroduced but is not all that common but one of the few good wild pets with light armor and some good special attacks. The spider is a Gaping Spider and depending on the variant is either common or valuable. The Gurrecks are still decent pets and while not rare take a little effort to find. We now have rare pets that are extremely difficult to find a baby for. Most of the CH’s that are left spend their time looking for them. A Bull Rancor is one of the rare pets. They do spawn babies but some people have killed off 500+ lairs of them without ever seeing a baby. You will see some of the sticky messages on the top of the forum read them for more info about the changes.

All in all, most people have given up on CH. You will rarely see anyone hunting with pets anymore. You will also not see pets at the starports or cities. Non-CH can have up to a level 10 pet but buy them from Bio Engineers not CH’s. The only way to make money as a CH is to grind combat missions. We are still the most hated profession in the game by both the player base and the Dev’s. All the bugs that were in the game when you quit are still there plus a bunch of new ones. CH’s now consists of Newbs, BE’s with enough skills to tame and train their creations, Rare Creature Collectors, and eternal optimists that hope some day the class will be fixed. The good news is now we are just ridiculed and ignored by the Dev’s they seemed to have run out of things to nerf. lol
