If you don't have master scout, then you can note the creature's name and then look it up at swgcreatures.com (you can even alt-tab out to a browser window while still playing -- just make sure you don't just attacked while browsing the web!).

Okay, total level is what you can call period up to level 70. If you have Novice CH and all the first tier boxes you can control a CL20 pet. When you get to Manage 3 you can have out 2 pets at once that total your creature level max. This is a bit iffy when dealing with a non full grown creatures currentlevel. i.e. you can sometimes get to CL71 or CL72. I think this has to do with the CL x.xx decimal places. Like a CL55 adult screecher is really a CL5.5 baby.

Your wild creatures mod is your chance atcontrolling a non aggressive creature while you viscious creatures mod is your chance at controlling an aggressive creature. Has more to do with taming, with exception of the Bull Rancor. Just throwing this out there.

If you have a total level of 45 and Manage 3 then you can have out one CL45 or one CL40 with a CL5 or a CL33 with a CL12, and so on.

As far as what you can have in your datapad but not able to call until you get to its level. I am not sure how the system in place at this moment in the game is set up to hinder you from having a CL50 Rancor given to you while you are Novice, but can't use until you get to his level.

Unless it has changed recently, you can hold any level of pet that can be tamed if you are a CH. I routinely give pets to novices that are way above their level of control. I do not think you can do the same for non-ch's. I think they can only hold what they can control, CL 10 non-aggro.

You can give a non-CH a baby that is within their level and it will grow to the point they can't call it. I've done that thinking a non-CH could use a cu pa when I first started playing. My friend had no trouble pulling it out till it grew to level 10+. After that he got a message telling him he had no chance of controlling the animal and it wouldn't call.
