Thread: Why am I getting lower missions when I group with my pet?

Hopefully someone can answer my question because this has really perplexed me lately.

When I go up to a mission terminal by myself I will receive normal missions, but then once I group up with my pet and look at the same mission terminal, the mission's will be of a lower level. I had thought that one of the best reason of having a pet is so you could group with them and get higher missions, but maybe this is not true.

Also, when I am not grouped with my pet, some npc's will appear white, then once I group with my pet the npc's will appear yellow. I have learned to ignore it but I am still wanting to know what is going on here.

I'm guessing there you are a master or close to master of your combat profession.

You are using a pet that is lower level then you are.

Group difficulty is calculated by by the average level of it's members with a bonus for multible members.

I think that you chosen pet isn't high enough level compaired to you, so the bonus for having it in your group, doesn't make up for the leveldifferance.

The reason is that your pet is worse than you at combat, and it lowers the skill level of the group, so lower missions.

Try grouping with a wild chubba or some CL 2 BE creation and see what happens. (not babies btw but pets with low CL when full grown).

It definately lowers your mission payouts.

I did a fair amount of testing this one day using myself different level pets and having other people join the group. It appears to me that the calculation is:

Total Group CL / 2

To test this i used several totalings of pets using CL25 as the base for a master (I am a master Swordsman carrying a PH) I am not totally sure at what point you hit CL25 but with myself MSword and my alt 3444 BH we get missions that are CL25 (Test done on Naboo with min CL mision at CL10 and Endor with a min of CL40)

Once i grouped with a pet i would add my CL25 to that number. If i chose a CL25 pet i had, my mission would be CL25. If i choose my CL44 spider the mission was 39 and so on. I did this with every combination using 1 2 and 3 pets. All came to the same number. The formula listed above.

To add spice and test, i also threw in a droid (CL18) and as expected, the moment i added them to group my missions jumped by CL9.

Hope this helps.

Yes that definetely helped. I think you are all right because I am working on pistoleer right now, and I can only train pets up to level 18. So I guess I am just going to have to keep getting missions myself then group with my pet later until I can start training the big boys.

I've been wondering about this issue myself. According to the poster above, a master combat professional counts at CL 25. Can anyone else confirm this?

I am TKM and when i am ungrouped on a normal planet (tat, naboo) the max DL i get for missions is 25.

I have a question about this - i am right now 1/4/1/4 CH so i can have up to lvl 40 pets out. What i've been doing lately is pulling out a lvl 25 and a lvl 10 pet, then a lvl 18 droid. Should i keep using something like this (the low lvl pet to bump closer to my max level) or should i just try to pull one pet out that is closest to my max pet level and leave it at that?

Actually i just pnched some math out - are we sure its always divided by 2? or is it an actual average? Obviously if its only divided by 2 we will get higher missions but i just wanted to check. I was trying out a few different things working with a max level of 40 and the CL's of some of my own pets. Me (25), GSP (25) Fambaa (34) Lesser plains bol (10) Peko Peko (14) harvester droid (18)

so i started with Me+GSP+Bol+droid, 25+25+10+18=78. Divide that by 2 and you get 39, which i have noticed as being the highest level i get when grouped like this (on tatooine).

Then i tried Me+Fambaa+Droid, 25+34+18=77, divide by 2 and get 38.5, which i would assume would be bumped up to 39. Ok, makes sense, i guess it is always divided by 2.

With me+GSP+peko+droid, 25+25+14+18=82 divided by 2 thats 41, slightly higher obviously because the max CL of pets called is 39 in this one rather than 35 and 34 in the other combos. Ok i think i get it now
