Thread: A suggested update to CH issues for Vertexon to take with him to correspondent summit

This post is addressed primarily to Vertexon but others should /support /bump or /amend it as they see fit.

Given the rumors of a correspondent summit in August and given that the CH issue list stickied at the top of this forum seems slightly outdated, I thought I would suggest my own personal list, in order of importance to me.

Bugs (in order of importance)

1. Fix the ocassional vitality loss in PvP that still occurs after publish 9. It appears to be associated with deathblows by riflemen (as documented in another thread here: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=creature_handler&message.id=185138).

2. Fix the remaining broken specials -- knockdown, strong/med/weak poison, and strong/med/weak disease. Some people also complain that they can turn on ranged attacks for creatures but can't order them off. I can't personally confirm this since I'm not a MCH yet.

3. Fix the pets standing on top of owners. I can't see a darn thing when I have my bantha out because he's always standing right on top of me. Just because we can order a work around using formations doesn't mean that we should have to. Have pets stay at reasonable 10m away when everyone is idle.

4. Fix the remaing pet auto-storing problems. This happens very rarely to me and from reading the forums others also only experience it rarely. Nonetheless, this is still a serious problem when it happens since we are left without our animal protectors in potentially bad positions.

5. This isn't high on my list since I've never personally experienced it but some people were having issues with pets routinely running away while in battle (due to their skin sizes keeping them from getting into their ideal attack range). If this is still an issue, it should definitely also get fixed.

Gameplay improvements (in order of importance)

1. Improve our viability in PvP. This is a very complex issue, involving the combat system as a whole and the abilities and relative levels of all other professions, but deserves at least some hot fixes until the big combat revamp. No rational player wants CH to become overly powerful again but neither do we wish to remain under powered in PvP.

2. Reduce the delay for calling and storing pets. 15 seconds doesn't seem too long until you have to do for every creature (up to 4 if you are also calling a droid -- like say a harvesting droid) for every mission. If you're group hunting, by the time the 60 seconds passes to call everything out then much of the mission will have already been completed by your groupmates.

3. Allow us to sell our pets on vendors and on the bazaar. One reason that some may think this a bad idea (falsely in my opinion) is because this will allow CH to effectively circumvent the max stored pets limit. However, this isn't truly an issue, in my opinion, because CH cannot easily access these pets while hunting or fighting, thus keeping the max stored pet limit real while out in the "field". I mean if BEs can have 100 creatureswaiting to be bought on their vendors, why can't we? This could even make for an interesting economy -- customers would have the choice between statistically superior BE pets or already trained, perhaps more rare pets from CHs.

4. Make the difference between the stats of BE pets and wild ones less stark. I think that BE pets ought to be, in general, slightly superior to wild ones -- otherwise there would be no reason to obtain BE pets. On the other hand, from my reading it seems that the only wild pet that has any combat superiority to BE ones is the Mantigrue screecher since it has plague strike. Perhaps more wild pets with unique specials should be included -- thus allowing BE pets to retain their edge with regards to normal combat stats, while giving wild pets a reason to be sought beyond simple rarity.

5. Increase the desirability of mounts. This gives CH a greater role inthe game's society/economy and also would add to the Star Wars feel of the game. Suggestions to do this include upping the speedof some mounts to make them competitive withvehicles, adding storage capacity to mounts, and/or adding more combat ability to mounts.

Ok, that's it for now. Like I said, I mainly hope that Vertexon will take these thoughts with him to Austin but also please any others reading these, please add your feedback to my feedback. I generally enjoy playing CH but I believe these suggestions would add even more to my enjoyment.

Nice list. I'm not sure why you say the existing Issue/Request list is "outdated," though? I think everything you mention here is covered there (albeit in a different order of prioritization).

The issues with vitality loss in PvP are supposed to have been fixed/improved in Publish 10 (currently on Test Center). I haven't experienced factioned vitality loss over there yet, but I'd welcome help from anyone willing to test it.

I am a FIRM believer in you Gameplay suggestion #3. I cannot tell you how frustrating it was when I learned that only BE pets can be placed in a house...and that only BE pets can be sold on a vendor. Please PLEASE change this...make CH a profitable venture as well...since the combat side of it has gone down hill since the NPCs were changed recently. I had a couple of Corsairs wax my rancor in less than a minute...they were not even wearing any armor, heh.

Well that's why I said "slightly" outdated. True the main difference is priorization but also some issues like #4 (mounts not following) and #5 (creature pathing issues) on list do seem to have been fixed.

That's great news. I don't normally play on TC but maybe I'll fire up a character and see if I can get some pets killed by riflemen. Thanks again for your work, Vertexon.
