Thread: Guard command wierdness

Arguably guard is the most usefull CH command besides attack, will give you the few extra seconds you need to revive after being incapped by a mob, especially with the NPC specials being reintroduced.

However, my pets never seem to listen to me. I give the guard command 'g' and you can tell the pet knows I am telling him because he just gets a big question mark above his head. The only way around this is to retrain the pets then they become my fearless gaurdians again.

Anybody else notice this, haven't seen a thread on it lately?

I have noticed this with serveral commands....they wont respond to the old word. Say the old word is guard....to get the critter to guard again I have to change it to another word or letter....I can't not retrain it using the same word sometimes..Now that is very odd.

If you see the question mark above their heads, it means they don't know what to do. So you have to retrain them. Try using a command with more than one letter. That should help. Basically just keep giving the command, until you don't see the ? above them. no2 MCH

Dont kill me but i have to ask just to be sure lol

do you have anything clicked or highlighted or targeted whatever u wanna call it lol

for guard to work nothing must be targeted like a chair in a camp another pet ...

if u click on a friend and say the command they will guard him/her but if u have ur pet clicked on they wont understand

ive never had this problem but im sure its possible this is swg so all glitches are possible lol

Lol this is the biggest problem with the guard command. It will try to guard what is targeted. Make sure either yourself or nothing is targeted and try the command again.

You guys were right, seems to work fine when I make sure not to have anything targeted!

Saved me a few trips to the clone center.

I have always selected myself and then issued the guard command. I haven't had any problems, when doing this.

what i would do, pull out my 2 BE wonders... 'g' (group), then 'guard' without anything highlighted... never had a problem with that...

but i also trained each pet with different attack and follow commands too so, send one pet to attack let the other stand guard...

another underused command is the follow target... send the pets after your target while on guarding you... then attack... never once has a mob gotten to me like this if its a single (great for the NS and such...

my advice is go fishing first... get some pet stem D's made...

for hunting rangers/iniates any well rounded pet can tank fine... dunno your complete build but use the republic blaster... they are like any onther decent HAM npc just they have force moves...

for the stalkers/spellweaver/protectors... kinetic/electricty/energy resists, they seem to use polearms more than anything... but i'd sugest haveing 2 pets one on guard... have the other tank then cycle them to heal the other when it gets hurt... embolden pets seems to help alto too... use the lowly striker pistol on these, its a weak gun but it is kinetic damage...

if you can seperate 1 of anything short of an elder this should work fine for you... if you have a doc friend get your pets buffed too... helps the regen rate emencly (sp?)...

if i was to getpets made they would be gurreck's with AR1 60%kin, high elec, decent energy, and at leat 1% on everything else... also for special attacks, DO NOT get a ranged attack (if i pet does that first it can be deadly to you), and intimadate, the other one is up to you but poision/disease work ok...

in the old days i had my BE pets kill stalkers on their own cause i could do no damage... only a couple stems on each during the battle...

there are alot of other things you can try, but this is one of the better ways i've found for killing anything solo, and i mean anything... but i have MRifle to back the pets up... AP3 helps out alot...

Nice idea, can you recommend any good BE pet attrbutes for fighting NS? Electricity resists maybe? I can't put much of a dent in them with my pistols, need something that will live for a LONG time.

Thanks for the tips, forgot about buffing pets also. Seems light electricity resists are what I would need.

Yes only thing I can use is a lowly striker pistol against these NS. Of course have a AP3 rifle would help

yes the t21 will hurt the 100% energy resist ones... but there has been talk of the devs fixing that... 100% resist to anything reguardless of the AR will do no damage...
