I wouldnt drop carbineer if I were you. From the spec the devs posted ch is supposed to be in the lower rung of tank. If the devs are angleing towards true tanks in this game. Chances are your pet will not be doing the kind of damage needed to finish off high end mobs solo.
On the other hand if your happy polishing off mid level mobs then you could probabally do that. You probabally shouldnt be thinking that you will be storming fort tusken or the geo caves with a rancor and killing of enemies left and right though.

if i had a 2nd combat prof, i would keep it hands down! Pets will NOT be the CH'er weapons, they will only be generic companions. if you want damage keep your combat profession.
PS. dont feel bad, ive been wanting this since Beta2

The answer is yes. All prerequisites and elite trees needed to do that are available for respec.

u can respec, but u can only invest the freed skillpoints in "combat profs" - this includes Doc and CM. i m not sure about Bio Engy (could be that only the med crafting line is available).
u wont be able to invest them in pure crafting profs.

How ya doin bud?
FYI
i am lead to believe by a few red named post's that the respec will be around for a while before you have to make a permanent choice.
As of right now crafters and entertaines are not included but this may change since both parties are asking for it. Considering some may wish to go from combat to crafter or even entertainers if they no longer like how combat has changed and vise versa.
best thing for ya do do might be to just try out a few different combo's and professions before making a final choice on a template.
If you have the time go on TC and check it out gorath servers been tranfered so you and all your pets will be there lol might be worth a few logins untill it goes live to be prepared for what you may find enjoyable

Sure you can drop carbs.............but you will not want too.....However if the hate system makes it to live you will want to drop CH and use those skill points on some thing usefull.....................and no medic will not count either................

The answer is no the devs made it painfully clear that skill points will matter again. So if your dreaming of being a CH and some high level crafter, and still getting all the combat goodness you may want to reconsider. You will probabally be handleing lowend mobs with just ch not mid level spawns like tuskens klikniks and baznitches things of that sort.
No ch will not become a instant god mode that will let you both craft and combat at the highest levels. Which in my oppinion is a good thing. If you want to be good in combat you should I do not know actually dedicate the skill points to make it so.
