Thread: Stims and pets after the CU? UPDATED 4-18-05 after testing on TCEP3

Was re-reading the announcement posted by Blair and something in the Doctor revamp section caught my eye:


Healing/Doctor/CM Changes



  • Medical crafting will be handled by the crafting line in Medic as well as Bio-Engineers.
  • Doctors will have enhanced abilities that are enhanced with the use of consumables called enhancers.
  • Enhancers are on a 1000 point scale - the higher the number the better.
  • The quality of Enhancer charges will vary per ability. We are aiming for an average of ~20%.
  • We are adding craftable stimulant packs (stims) that can be used by anyone. Stims are one shot consumables that require no skill boxes to use.
  • The use of the different stims will be determined by the player’s combat level. (i.e., novice players will be able to use the lower level stims while the elite players will be able to use the higher level stims)
  • Players will use stims by double clicking them. Each use will consume one charge. Each use has an associated cool-down time.
  • Stims can modify your health ~10%. You can’t use your stims to heal someone else.

That last line about "You can't use your stims to heal someone else" has me a bit worried.


Does this also mean we won't be able to use those stims on our pets?


Will we still have Pet stims after the CU?


Also what about new CH's? Looks like they will only be able to use less powerful stims until they gain more skills. So even if we can use our stims on our pets for a new CH it will be tougher to fully heal their pets?



Just curious about these things.

OK I logged on to TCEP3 tonight and used the Frog to set my char to Master CH/Master Rifleman as he is on live. Also have Novice Medic for Bacta heal.

Grabbed some stim D's from frog.Trained my level 5 lesser dewback and level 8 plodding falumpaset mounts and headed to Theed.

Once thereI grouped up with both pets and started attacking the stormtrooper NPC's. After combat tried to heal my pets.

I could use Bacta heal on them just fine. However the stim D's always gave the message "you do not have any damage to heal".

So it looks like this is either a bug -or- intended and we cannot use stim's on our pets anymore.

possible assumtion on my part, my guess stims that dont need med skills, no cant heal pets, nov medic different case ?? I wont even guess to answer


pet stims should still be around but who knows,


bio eng, are going to be med crafters now

hmm ents get new dances and songs, crafters new armor and weapons, chefs food will be changed, tailors also. seems to be one class missing hmm wonder who that is lol.

Reasonable questions to bring up at this point. Keep in mind, though, that not all documents have been released. So the information you have to go by right now is more of a broad overview rather than all-encompassing details.

CH would be kind of useless NO one but a high level doc could heal you're pets.

Ayami - MCH since september '03 and until NGE.
The removal of CH and the NGE in general is the dumbest thing a company has ever done. period.
CH deserves to stay, and SOE deserves to be *#&$^#*@ until they are #*&$& and then *#&$ some more!

I realize there are still more docs coming out.


I am just anxious to see what they say.


Kinda have that "hurry up and get here Christmas feeling" hoping that I get what i want but fearful I may be disappointed.


Still just have to wait for the day to get here when they release more info.

We just don't know at this point; the stims that the doc refers to are non-medic player stims. Pet stims should still be around for healing pets, and medic types should be able to use their healing powers on pets, at least that's the way it seems to me. At one point in the past medic stims not only healed pets, but granted healing XP, but that was nerfed, even though healing tumblers, people issuing trick commands to pets, and massive heals in cantinas of dancers and musicians andof those sampling resourcesare basically the same thing.

I don't know about you all, but Ch is not a common class pet stims are hard to find on my server and when they are they are 3k for a stim C at 30 charges.


I took pharm 4 and use 40 med use stim D at 3k per stim and 58-60 charges per stim.


So when I can find pet stims they cost twice as much so I depend on healing my pets with regular stims. I don't see that changing unless CH is more viable of a profession. Lets face it crafters make what sells and i fthe profession count is weak you dont see many and prices get inflated

i don't read that they way you guys do. This simply says they are "adding" a new type of one-shot stim. I take

that to be a variant of the new stims from the loot craziness release that modify your speed/accuracy. This

says nothing about taking away or changing the way Stimpack's currently work for medics or whoever. Sure

if they change us to a single health bar then stimpacks will be modified to only heal that bar, but I don't see

anything referring to removal of stimpacks

I can't see them taking away the Pet Stims... since they are creature specific. And with BEs possibly doing more in the Medical field.. they might even get better down the road and easier to find. It is hard to make good Pet Stims without some help from a Doctor to max out the exp for the components. So with any hope and DEV love the BEs should be able to make them much better on there own with more Med Exp points... (fingers crossed).
