Thread: Master CH looking for some help with new system..i CANT teach mount anymore!
Like in the old system, they have to hit a certain size. I just rolled over my CL70 bantha once and it became mountable. This makes growing pets faster, if you have the patience for it, then the old10 day wait period. Every time a pet rolls over, they grow in size. In order to see a change in size, however, you gotta store it and call it out again. So, in a few minutes of grinding, you can have a growth equavilent to a 24 hour wait period. All pets have a maximum XP eventually, and the end result is a full grown pet/mount. Lower CL's will require quite a while before you can mount them. A Cu Pa used to be mountable at CL8, but now it becomes mountable after 8 rollovers.
Understand now? Other than the grinding part, which I don't mind anyway since that's basicly WHY a CH has pets, what part of this new system is so terrible? For you vet CH, none of your pets have changed in the least other than the fact they can now switch targets and have the potential to become ALLOT more powerful.
Honestly, some people are never satisfied!
Hello All,
I am also having difficulty with the mount command not being present. I have a CL 9 bantha that I have fought with and trained an ability and is now fully trained if you look in the datapad. He stopped growing in size as well after the change.I did read that fully trained and mature were two different things so he should continue to grow. I figured maybe he still needs to come out and fight even though it says fully trained so that he can continue to grow so when I pull out my pets he is right there everytime as well. I have two other CL 10 mountable creatures that a friend gave me to train as a mount and the command is just not present. These pets are definately the right size to accept the mount command. Any thoughts. Thanks in advance.
It's important to differentiate between natural tames and BE pets, because the BE pet system is totally borked for mounts. The level of a BE pet now determines what size it is, and it seems that BEs MUST hit level 10 on the nose for a dewback to be mount trainable now. It's even possible that a higher level BE mount critter will grow TOO LARGE for the saddle art, and will cease to be a mount once it's grown past a certain point.
Natural tames are still VERY mount trainable. I've trained four diffrent species as mounts in the post pub 21 environment.
However, the BE pets are just all messed up now due to the new level=size formula that has BEs reeling, making one of their more lucrative opportunities for selling their creations worthless due to the capriciousness of the new BE pet growth system. Way to go, devs.

Just a fyi - Giant Carrion Spat was mount-trainable on taming... only critter I've found so far that starts out big enough to train as a mount...
Bol pack runners are insta-trainable as a mount at tame as well. I haven't found a seething bol crusher baby to tame yet, so don't know about them.
Well, not that it matters much BUT, if you really want an answer Aerontako, here it is....
TIME SINKS
yes, i have been a CH since beta, made master shortly after the game went live. I understood a few of the changes that Ch's went through, obviously having 3 rancors beating ANYTHING that walked was cool to watch ( and fun to play) but it really was overpowered. they REALLY went too far though, especially with the CU...
Now, the answer is this...spend ungodly amounts of time AGAIN to bring up any new pets, not to mention the mount market being trashed. I understand you think i am whining and i cant be satisfied, but see it from my perspective...i play this game for fun, not to grind...this new system is tailor made for the grind....understand now? Lets not even metion they are taking a page from the worlld of warcraft pet book..whoops, did i mention that again?
thank you for those that gave thier feedback on the mount issue ![]()
I think it's atrocious and unacceptable that the non-combatant approach to Creature Handler got thrown into the garbage can, and nobody seems to care too much.
Maybe they all quit already.
I took CH to have pets to entertain with, as I'd go out, tame them, they'd grow (on their own, I didn't have to spend hours upon hours upon hours to get them to grow up) to an acceptable size.
I didn't take CH to spend hours killing things. If I want to do senseless mind-numbing grinding on thousands of animals, I'd play my Jedi.
I used to like being able to tame a pet, and a week or so later, it'd be grown and ready to use.
Yes, you can level up a pet wicked fast now and make it big faster. Whoopity-do, there's NO option whatsoever to NOT do lame grinding just to make a pet grow. I'm stuck with embryonic-sized pets unless I want to go out and slaughter for hours and days.
This one-sided and narrow-view overhaul of CH is just plain inexcusable.
There WAS more to CH than just using your pets to kill. Now you can just collect pets, so long as you like teensy-weensy pets that people will easily step on before noticing, unless you spend all your time in the field killing and killing and killing and killing, and oh guess what, killing some more, and then killing again for another hour or so.
This is LAME.
Comabatant was NOT the way that people played Creature Handler. Yet again we see the total and complete destruction of non-combatant content in this game. A crying shame.
Enjoy your grind, everyone. I grind ridiculousamounts of hoursto get Jedi skills, not to put a saddle on a friggin' CL10 cu pa (at least 6 hours on Sunday, solo). Too bad -this was a cool profession, and not just combat-focused.
