Thread: And so now the game is completely unplayable for some

Thanks again to the genious devs for releasing another monster patch with no clue how it affects the game systems. As of right now I can't play my character, period. It's just not possible.

I'm a MCH, working on MBE, Polearm IV (and stuck there due to lack of skill points) and Poli 2/3/2/3 (dropping down). It's a messed up combo that means that I depend totally on pets and animals in general working for me to to what I need to do, because my pets are my main means of combat and defense. If the animals don't work, I can't play.

Ever since the trickle-out certain core problems that we have been telling them about since Beta have been getting worse. Pet freeze went from it's general slowdown to a complete lockup of its radial. Pets stopped listening for periods of time in spatial as well as /tellpet. Lack of mobs on planets, except in the ring of doom around cities. Autostore worse than ever.

Last night I played for the first time since the patch. The problems started at the edge of the border of Theed, where I stopped hopped off my mount to retrain it and change its name. It autostored twice while I was retraining it, and as I've got the commands macroed, that's twice in two minutes or less. I then run down the street to the bazaar . . . where's my mount? Standing there like an idiot. Of course, now they don't automatically follow you. I run back in range for the command, it autostores. I pull it back out, tell it to follow, and it's right on top of me. Now I can't even target the bazaar because my own pet is in the way. I store it, do what I need to do, and fly to Tyrena. I pull out my mount and my fighter (a savage humbaba and a BE'd guf drolg) and of course they're right on top of me. I can't target the humbaba to mount, because the guf drolg is in the way. I tell them to go into wedge, and the humbaba stores and the guf drolg gets stuck in an arch. I store him, recall them both, and tell them to wedge again. This time they manage to stay in game and hold formation. I go to mount the humbaba, and now, lo and behold, he's too far away. I tell them to stay, get on the humbaba, and head out. The guf drolg doesn't want to follow. I get him to follow, and he's right on top of us again.

So that you'll understand a bit more about what effect the NEXT set of problems had, here's how I spend my nights: I ride around the middle of Corellia (or wherever I am, but mostly Corellia) with my mount and a fighter. I stay masked, so when I come up to a mob I hop off the mount and sample it. A lot of the time it attacks me. I stay in peace mode, send in the fighter, wait for it to draw aggro, and then bash it feebly in the head with my long vibro axe. Then of course I either have a DNA sample (if I had succeeded) or a stack of meat, so I go on my way to the next one. Of course I collect eggs on the way as well, and now milk (the one thing I saw last night that worked right).

So I go out into the wilds and find my first paralope. I hop off the mount, who stands stock still and doesn't follow. The paralope takes off at top speed, and I follow, with the guf drolg overlapping my avatar so I can't see where I'm going. I tell it to wedge, and now it's 20 meters off and keeps getting stuck in terrain I can't see to avoid, because I'm not near it. I leave it behind and running behind the paralope, try to milk it. I succeed, go through it again for a DNA sample, and succeed. I've now lost both my pets, of course, and return to the area I was in to find they had autostored. I get them both back out, wedge them, get on the mount, get the other to follow, and go and try again. Now I come to a lair, and try to search it. Of course, I can't target it, because the guf is overlapping me and the lair. I tell him to wedge again, search it, get the eggs, and the guf is stuck on the terrain again.

I go through this all night. If I tell the pets to follow, I can't target anything to milk or sample it due to overlap If I manage to aquire the target and start milking or sampling, I can't see it well enough to follow. If I tellthe petsto wedge or column, they get stuck. If they stay put, the target moves so far off I lose the pets. Add to that an additional five autostores that ultimately left me stuck with uncallable pets and mounts and no weapon( it broke when I tried to repair it), and I said screw it.

So now the game is completely unplayable for me. I can't go out and do missions, because my pets are my combat tool. I can't collect samples, because I either can't see the target or I can't fight back when they aggro. I can't collect resources, which for me is meat, eggs, and milk, because of the same reasons as stated above.

This is ridiculous.

Re-state all of the above (with different pets).

In addition to the above, I've noticed that you have to spam the attack command and follow command alternatively, because once the pets draw agro, they run away like stormtroopers. If you don't spam the follow and attack comands alternatively, you chase the pet for 200m and by the time you get back to the lair, it has respawned. So missions are virtually impossible unless you're grouped with several other people so you can attack all the mobs at once and someone in the group stay near the lair until you get back.

Unfortunately, I'm frequently on when my guildmates aren't, so I'm down to only doing low missions that the pet kills pretty quickly

Well, this little range thing is affecting droids and pets alike. And it is very much more than a mere annoyance. It makes things nigh impossible...

Hey I'm new to using droids and after reading this was wondering , am I supposed to have to retrain the droid's commands every time after storing? I was a baby ch 2/1/0/1 so am alittle familiar with training, but this seems kinda counter productive. Maybe this has something to do with what you are talking about. Can anyone confirm that i may be experiencing the same prob that the above individuals are having?

I need to play solo . . . it's unfair for me to group up with people. Either they end up standing around doing nothing while I sample and them regain my mind bar, or I get called back to town on a moments notice and leave them short. Being able to solo is imperative; and I don't mean uber-solo, either. To me soloing is a humbaba lair, and I get incapped constantly even doing that. If I could do that any more, that is.

I hear ya, BT .. so far it looks like this patch delivered a hammerblow to all MCH's and most of the MWS's ... and that's what I know after 2 days ... lord only knows who else this totally hosed.

Sure would be nice to have an "In Live" discussion thread on problems created by this patch, wouldn't it?

Isn't that what "In Live" is for, Thunderheart?

Or is it just for marketing fluff and life-day orb celebrations?

Your customers really want to know.

How nice, now mods are deleating my posts for stating the truth. I'll try again.

Kzin, I'd noticed there's no general complaint thread, but I wouldn't have posted this there anyways because it would do no good. It would be ignored (or worse, "working as intended") while TH thanks the people who just want to kiss ass and the other devs thank him for listening so well to us paying customers. At least Vert will take note.

Galaxy, you may have hit another one on the head. I thought some of my pets had forgotten commands, but wasn't sure because I hadn't played in almost a week. Chances are you're right and that old bug is back again.

There is now an In Live thread specifically for CH problems created by this thread.

But really, shouldn't a "Serious Bugs" thread be opened at "In Live" within minutes of the Publish? This should be standard procedure, we shouldn't have to beg for it.

Ignorance at its finest . . . several threads on this board about it and now he wants us to go and restate it all over again in a different forum, instead of the one where the problems are happening and the discussions are taking place? I give up.
