Thread: Has anyone noticed the delay in chat with the 5sec weapon switch...

I've noticed this as well. I've been doing some leveling in TKA, but when I get in trouble I whip out my pike. Since I'm working low level pets, I haven't been sending them in until halfway through the fight, usually about the time I swap weapons, seriously delaying the attack command if it was given at the same time as a special also being used.

The general delay with specials has always been there. I don't know how long it takes to execute a special with a rifle, but it takes a VERY long time with a pike, so I'm used to waiting until the next round for a command to execute.

I noticed it right away. From what I can tell also, it goes into the queue.

...the thing is I dont know if it is just Hotkeyed Commands for attack (or whatever) or ANY chat.

I just hit Master Rifle so I shoot specials insanely fast, but I will do some tests when I log on to see if this is for hotkeys or any chat.

I have a feeling they messed up chat queues (spelling) with the 5second weapon addition....

If you want to get around it, I HEAR that if you do your attacks with /tellpet instead of speaking them out loud it bypasses the combat que and goes into effect immediately. Just keep in mind, which is why I don't use it, that /tellpet has a bad habit of not working right for everyone and likes to crap out when you least expect it.

I am a Rifleman and CH. Ever since the 5sec weapon switch patch I have noticed I cannot give my pet a command to attack until my next combat round approaches. Let me clarify. I use a T-21 which is like 5 second delay or whatever. In between firing rounds I Press my /petattack hotkey but it will not cycle until that 5 seconds is up.

I dont know why this is....will have to do some more tests

I use /tellpet and I'm not completely sure. Sometimes there absolutely is a delay. It almost got me killed(well, incapped)the first time I noticed it Actually, the first couple of times, because I thought the delay was just a glitch or lag. I have this routine I use to draw creatures from their lair (with bleed shot) and then sending my pets to the attack. Timing is important - command pets to attack too soon and the pets end up too close to the lair and all the creatures aggro. Too late and the creature is chomping on me. Which is what happened when a mountain squill charged me. I commanded my pets to attack, but they didn't. And they didn't. And they didn't. I was running around my pets in circles spamming attack while this squill is running around in circles chasing me

However, since, there have been times where my pets do seem to respond immediately to the attack command. And then a lot of times they don't. So, I'm very confused. Maybe it has something to do with the attack speed of the pet I'm using? Or maybe it is just a glitch/lag.

Also, when I use the pet's special attacks, sometimes I can see the results right away (via icon) but other times there is a definite delay before the special attack shows any effects. In the past, especially with stun, I'd see that icon spring up right away when I commanded special attacks. Now, far more times than not there is a delay, but I don't know what to attribute it to.

Ah, I'll check it out. I use /tellpet about 95% of the time, and haven't had any problems with it for a long while. I haven't noticed any change in pet behavior since the weapon switch delay went in. I'll try it with spatial commands, and see what happens.
