Thread: Just made Nov CH last Friday
Hi,
I Just made Nov ch last friday and have enough learning points to make it to master ch and Trickshot in pistoleer. I just want to say that when I saw how cool it was to use the creatures in combat I was just floored. I was considering being a dabbler but now I am looking forward to making MCH. The class is awesome.

glad to hear someone is planning on mastery for all the right reasons:
"The class is awesome."
from your statement, I have to assume that you are having FUN. it seems that a lot of us have forgotten about that (myself included).
the thrill may wear off some for you when you start to figure out that we're not the gods that those outside the profession make us out to be, but until then at least...
congrats, welcome, and enjoy!
Welcome to the profession for the right reason ...
I've been in the CH tree from day on of public release, I'm a casaul player that finds myself lucky to get 1-2 hrs a day in game.
Currently I am 3/3/2/3 (just made taming 3 last night
)
don't get into the myth that you can make alot of money being a CH, usualy you will find that you have just enough room for all your herd and nothing else.....
a couple of tips for the remainder of the time that we have untill the next patch
1. as a Novice go out and tame yourself a Cupa....or buy one.... Great exp for a novice ch at this time. Run around a starting city killing everything that is white or lower to you and your pet, mad rush the exp intill you reach 1/1/x/x then go to either talus or Corellia and get a GSP (greater sludge panther) and work on getting 1/1/1/1 from there it is solely up to you how you should proceed, you will get advice on what to do more often then anything else, but do what you feal is benifitial to you, and remember the skill tree changes in December.
2. when ever possible get yourself some pet food and pet stims, pet stims anyone with or without medic people can use and the food is to drop all the black on the health/action bars..
3. rule of ettiquet, if you see somone milking a lair and a baby pops up that is not open inventation to rush in and tame, that is why the other person is there to get that baby....\
4. listen to people who advise you.... 9 out of 10 times their telling you something that is benificial to you.
5. train the animals you want to train because they apeal to you, not because A has one and says that their cool for PvP....
6. Above all else remember this is a GAME.... it is here to provide fun and enntertainment, if you find that your getting mad, press the diconnect button and go for a walk, read a book, watch TV, but don't sit their yelling at the screen all it does is makes your neighbors think your nuts ![]()
Good luck and good fortune
Ever since I have picked up Novice Creature Handler, I have been hooked. Currently I am 2212 going to 2222 as soon as I get back to civilization. I have a very odd assortment of creatures just because they look cool or amuse me: 2 GWs,Enraged Repitilian Flyer, Spineflapper Soldier, Purbole Hunter, Female Grassland Slice Hound, and Razor Cat.
I always leave at least one slot open so I can train any baby I find. Its nice to earn about 1000 CH exp per baby. With the mount patch I am now going to concentrate on the Empathy tree. My goal is to make Master some day but it will take a while due to limited number of hours per week I can play. I am also moving up the BE and Pistoleer trees.
Being a CH is not as powerful as most people think but it does allow me to survive out in the wilderness hunting down interesting new babies and collecting meat for BE grind.
Have fun and enjoy the journey.
Currently 3/3/4/4, been doing this for some months now. Heh, should have been on Endor when you could run for hours and not see now spawns, oh those were the days. Seems thereare many kinds of pets.
Hard core battles: Graul Mauler, (remember I don't have level 4 on first two).
Regular battle:, Mountain Squill, takes alot of punishment before he will have lower hams. Grual Mauler is just to big, Mountain Squill very similiar but much smaller in size. Heh, less noisy too.
Escorts: had an Enraged Reptile flyer as escort when running cause it could keep up. Going from Bestine or Anchorhead to Wayfar, has lots of agros like Desert Demons, Valerians, (I'm friendly to Jabba and Jawas). Enranged has low keneitic but can take blasters and rifles shots very well. Incidently when you can have two pets out, Enranged can still keep up with a mount even when on gallop.
Just for show: You should see the tricks that every pet you tame does. Woorts do head stands while using it's toungue. Get a mountain one, it's huge. Banthas also stand on their head. (so no, I don't get just killing machines, I get some for entertainement. Some just look funny, and I show every new catch to friends that may otherwise never see one.
Non-ch: Not all non-ch even knew that they could have two pets. Not every non-ch do battles. Hence, not every creature level 10 or lower is for battles. Example: darn cute bunny types around, cute tricks too. Ever spend hours surveying or healing in camps? Makes forgood entertainment. But also, (surprised no has heard of this) there is a snake for non-ch. There are dancers. Combined makes for a great show. I've always pictured a non-ch walkiing by with a little bird fluttering after them. (Not for selling although that works for some) Set free many babies, cause no one was interested or knew they could have them.
Progressing in a combat skill: Was doing Swordsman and Pistoleer, not enough to master both. But just enough to master one. So, if I want to master all combat, I will always keep CH. Will be faster to exp and then after each Mastering of a single combat skill, will go Bio. All the while, storing hides, bones, and meats. so that if I want to go for Armorsmithing, or Weaponsmithing, will already have my own supply. Hopefully we will have more skill points to play with by that time, (I hates standing still to craft)
Cu pa and shooting keetles is good exp started, (think you get higher exp if it's agro type thing, but not sure). At 3/3/4/4 have 15 commands, (don't kill me if I'm off a number there) so by just taming a baby you get at least 100 exp. with 15 or so that's 1600 exp per tame.
Anyways, it's not just tame, then fight, then heal, then tame, then fight , then heal. Spent way to many hours just fooling around with the pets.
But when you do battle, with the last patch, brawlers won't get beat up so much going toe to toe with pets at side now.
Thanks for all the advice. Everything has been well noted and I just want to add that I love to see my pets do tricks and they are very pleasing to the eye. Can't wait to get home from work tonight and play some more with them. The gang I usually play with was always complaining about ch players. No one wanted one in the group. Now they ask what pet I am bringing along. (Note: I told them that they WILLget more uses out of those factory crate stims they keep buying.(use less often)because the npcs almost always jump my poor pet) My one friend, who is always getting incapped, is happier than hell because he now spends less time in the med center or healing. And yes for the first time, in a little while, SWG is VERY FUN.
