In fact all you need is one realy good pet. Maybee like my Lev. 68 Razor cat. It comes with a mass of protection (58% Kinetic), HAM over 11k and a damage between 550 and 590. As long as I was CH it was always a good helper and stood in the longest fights by my side, rescueing me from difficult situations more than once.

As a MCH you shouldonly work with High-Level Pets. Any others are nice-to-have but not very useful.

Well, these days a good bio-engineer could get you 3 level 23-24 pets with that same resistance, same HAM, and possibly light armor. An average bio-engineer could do 2 level 35 pets with those qualities even easier. More is better...as they say.

I would got with a

One high level pet, maybe anwhere from 65-70

2 level 35 pets

2 level 25 pets

2 level 20 pet

that way you can take your choice on how you want to run. with that set up you could run with either 1 2 or three pets.

The Basic and most forward answer:
Whatever you feel you want.

The bigger question is what are you going for? Some MCH hold a lot of non CH pets to sell or give away. Others are majorly combative and hold high level all armor pets. Some CH use only BE pets, while others will only use wild pets. Some people are "Rare Hunters" and will only hold pets that are hard to find, or are currently not spawning babies. Some go for the all cat datapad, while others go for the I like it and the way it looks datapad.

I am a mixture of all. I grew very attachedto my pets as I have found and tamed them. I still have my GW and my Viscious Huf Dun, which I tamed on the same day. I also tamed a Wrix, but he got upgraded when I found my Gurreck. I love my first Rancor, and I love my rare Bull Rancor. I love my Screecher, as I enjoyed searching for him on Endor. My Wasteland Cu Pa, is a replacement for my normal Cu Pa which was a re tame after releasing my original Cu Pa due to not having enough space to TTR.

Research some pets, find out what you like about certain ones, and go for it. There is not a certain list to go for. Tame what you like and like what you tame. Some of these little guys will grow on you. And if you remember getting royally beaten down by a creature when you were still new to the game, those are always a nice find, as you get to control what once controlled you. Good Luck

Hehe, I'm a mix myself of all that. I've got wild pets and BE pets, combat pets, rare pets, fun pets, cat pets, no non-CH pets at the moment as the moment I find one, tame it, I give it away for free. Wait, not entirely true, I still have two droid datapads stuffed with chubas, nunas, and flewts. Why? Because at the time I could and didn't know any better.

Ok, well if I had to have only one set out it would be like this....

Two cl 35 cats 60% kin Light armor, a smattering of other resists High damage and To Hit (speed dosn't vary much)

Specials: Intimidate/Dizzy Stun/Blind

Hams in the 10-11K range priority on health

That's about as good as it can get. Many BE skimp on the damage but you can get these to have 400+ damage with all the other goodies to boot. I've gotten real close in my own BE work, not quite there but I'm just starting.

After that, I like to just have a veriety of stuff...

Something stupidly big like a Kimogilla

A Savage Humbaba for a mount

A wild Bull Rancor to make the neighbors jeleous

A Bearded Jax with amazing stats just to be silly

Some fun pets with cool models

A pair of gleeming lantern birds or enraged reptilian flyers

Backup pets for the hunting cats in various models

Wasteland cu pa, its cool, fun to ride, and can't be replicated by a BE so you know its a CH riding it. Otherwise its a mix depending on my mood and what I've captured recently. I've got to try and find a good mix of pets to be able to pull exactly level 70 in two or three for mission levels, otherwise I'm not looking for any particular mix.

I've not tried a BE pet yet, just barely made master and needed all the tame and train I could muster. Recently I've filled up with non-CH mounts to get my guild all mounted. Once thats done I'll be freeing up a lot of space to go looking for unique critters.

I would say, as a minimum, you need:

1 fast cat for combat (as high a CL as you can manage to call, so you'll be trading up kitties as you move up the tree)

1 mount

1 fun pet

Everything else is up to you. BEs can put just about anything in any skin, except the fliers, that you may want in the way of a combat pet. Some CHs are partial to the insect models, some to the primate models, others to canines.

It's just me, but I love both the GSP/CRC model cats and the wrix/gurreck model cats. For a mount, a savage humbaba is very cool if you can control it, and I just love dewbacks, period, because they're like gigantic overgrown puppies.

One of my funnest pets is a CL 22 hilltop kima; physically tiny, but with an 8000 HAM and a dizzy attack. People look at it, check out the HAM, and <gasp>. It's very gratifying!
