Here is my line of thinking. We all know creature's in the wild in RL , or in fantasy games can pretty much tear a human up np. We of coarse are talking about a scifi game here. Ive read alot of post here, seems like most are on the same lines. Creature handler need's a fix. In pvp right now no stand alone ch can compete. Wth buffs and armor a ch is unable to do any thing to thesetarget's except throw a poison or dease on them that really doesnt count because the buffs. Here is what should be done. To become a creature handler you should have to master scout, this only makes sense. Now a creature tamer or trainer in real life has to get hands on training with their pet's in order to train them correctly, some are very dangerous. so basic self defense is learned by most trainer's. I would say then that unarmed 4 be a prereq. . Ok now a creature handler should be a combat proffesion getting ranged and melee defs mods, the pet's will be the weapon's . So all the offense is from the pet's them self's. and you could not use a weapon and direct you pet's at the same time. Instead you direct the the pets action's like your in direct control, eample, you command your pet's to attack said target, and have them do speicals which would do more damage thantheir regular attack would just like any proff. this would all be in done in your combat queve. creature's are the weapon's and like most combat proffs there should be differant types of damage. Alot at first would think how. Ok here is what I think would be possible types of damage for pet's. *Acid* alot of spiters out there and some that could easly have this type of damage np. electricity, electric ell's have it so mabe some creature's could produce a electric shock when attacking their enemies. stun maybe possible as well , since some creature/s are so large and can just use there massive size when hitting there target and knock the wind out of them, restraint is a jedi thing, but the concept is that it is choking you or constricting you. perhaps snakes could have this damage type. I believe pet's should have a improved ham and resistance since they will be the weapons. This would be alot of work to change this but I think personally it would help the proffesion out. right now it is scoffed at by all in the pvp circle.

*whisper* Paragraphs are your friend.

Don't expect much of anything to be done until after they screw us in the combat reballance.

Why are you getting down on people for desperately trying to change the profession any way they can? Havent they tried all the well worded methods and are forced into desperation. Don't they need to demand changes RIGHT NOW? Am I a horrible troll in this post or what?

Anyway, the two sentiments you express here are the same ones you were critiquing me for in another thread;( Advising good comunication and the futility of asking for serious changes before the combat reballance.)

*rolls her eyes* There's a difference between suggesting people hit the enter key on occasion and telling people that what they wrote is useless because they are not communicating effectively. I also only said "don't expect anything", where you were telling people outright they were wasting their time.

By the way, where is your gods gift of a post to the developers that you were supposed to write to show everyone how you can do oh so much better and get results where they can't?

All true. Just couldn't help making the comparison. Indeed it is a matter of degree. Although I'm not sure what the difference is between "don't expect anyghing" and "you're wasting your time". The end result is the same.

Have no fear, a CH post is in the offing. I expect it to be resoundingly ignored and lost to the bottom of the CH boards, but we shall see. Keep an eye out for it. I'm reading lots of posts to try and get as much a feal for the complaints etc... Since I'm not the Correspondent it realy won't be all that significant but I'm giving it a go because of your challenge.

Well I think what we are getting at is that the CB is all mighty and since most of our problems are combat issues, we get the same answer as every one else has for so long, wait for the.......CB

Plus CH seems to have a habbit of only getting Negative attention for the Devs, in other words much more has been nerfed and taken away than enhanced or fixed. BTW yes we do see the things that have been added and the issues that where resolved, just seems the bad and the ugly out weigh the good atm.

I cant say that i like this idea, probably one of the worst ideas ive ever seen why u might ask?

It is because i believe that most CH dont wont a pure combat proffesion as u have suggested but as a more support proffesion to help ppl with their other combat proffesions

Actually I think its fifty fifty, with neither of us being "right". I'm one of the "make the CH the combat class" people, while others would prefer it to stay pretty close to what it is now and keep their current skill sets. There's been good arguments on both sides of the fence.

Biggest negatory on the enhanced pet idea is that pets are the same as wild creatures (with bonuses if BE'd).

For this reason PvE was not quite as heavily hammered with the "re-balancing" as PvP (although it was nerfedbadly with the overall raising of creature levels for the favoured pets).

I agree with the "pet controller" idea as a moderator for the dual combat class "problem" - a discouragement to dabblers and a viable alternative to yet more nerfage.

Master scout as a perequisite makes sense (and I am one anyway) - but the bonus to maskscent and creature examine make this an attractive option anyway and CH is expensive enough in SP as it is.

A brawler prerequiste I'm afraid is not so sensible - RL Lion tamers and zoo-keepers do not dominate thier charges through physical superiority (they use knowledge ofanimal psychology and behaviour). Althoughit may help a littleif you mess up really, really badly, it's still not much use against 300 lbs of angry carnivore!

In real gameterms I can't think of a way of improving overall pet performance without resorting to crude methods like artificially bumping stats based on trainer level. Remember wild animals are the same as player controlled pets.

Unfortunately, any ideas for change are really up in the air until we know the details of the CB. Allegedly we are already "re-balanced", so in theory at least, should gain as the FOTM are reduced in effectiveness. Remember too that any improvements in animaleffectiveness should be reflected in our pets as well.

JTL is also on the horizon, with rumours of a raising of the SP 250 limit (although I think they'll chicken out of that one).

All-in-all I've stopped messing with my characters skills until we know for sure what the heck is happening.

yep you are right , a lion tamer doesnt go toe to toe with it's pet in training. however self defense implies knowing the use of your own body as well for protection and the ability to move out of the way when needed. Alot of tamers take self defense notto smack their pet's around . but to learn how to evade and make it possible to survive incase one does go berzerk on them. was just thinking of a possble prereq for creature handler. so unarmed poped in. To the above disagrement sorry not use to writing on forums and what not. Im bit of a new to computer life. person about a year now of dabblingand what not.
