I just got novice creature handling, but im somewhat confused. Do I just keep taming and setting free pets to get exp? I tried taming and fighting with a pet but he died in 1 hit even on the easist creatures. Also what kind of creatures should i start off taming what planet are they on etc?

There are two ways to get CH XP:

Taming and training of commands

Using creatures in combat

The catch on using creatures in combat is that they need to get one hit on the prey, to get substantial XP the prey needs to be stronger than the pet, and they must not be incapped when the prey finally dies.

If your creature falls, if he isn't resusccitated in time (and with bugs now in how this works, he probably won't be) you won't get any CH XP for the confrontation.

Actually combat can be managed very easily if you remember that thepet doesn't have to do more than one true hit to the creature. Use a weapon you have no skills with, as a rifleman I used a cdef pistol. Hit a critter and let it attack you. Once the creature is physically on you and hitting you order your little pet to attack. When you see that the pet has in fact hit switch to your weapon of choice and drop the critter attacking you. If your pet is not grouped with you the agroed mob will not attack it at all. It means you take a few attacks but this is minimal if you have armor and a decent combat skill.

If you don't have combat skills then let your pets grow a bit so they can take a few more hits. A lesser dewback, lesser bol, and lesser dessert womp rat can take on most of the animals around starter cities, especially if you are there to assist. Any pet that is CL 10 or less will give you max experience against the low level animals around a city. Don't be disappointed that it is only 100 exp or so per kill as you can do a lot of these in a relatively short period of time.

As you level up you will be able to get animals that can fight better. Also as you get skill boxes you will get more commands so each tame will mean more experience as well. Tame and release is the highest experience for the time if you can find a couple of nests spawning babies close to each other. Gnorts and paralopes spawn a lot of babies if you can find some nests fairly close together you can keep moving between them and get several tames in a short period of time.

The answer to your question is the tame and release method. It by far gives you more XP than fighting with your pets. No matter how you do it, get to the point so that you can train ten commands and have as many pet slots in your data pad that you can. Once you reach that goal you are going to start to do the tame and release grind. On average you will get between 1025-1080 XP per animal you tame then train.

You will be more successful if you go to some planet that is lower level like Naboo, Talus, or Corellia to do this. Once there get in your vehicle and head out into the rough about 3k away from where you shuttled in and find spawns with babies. You tame the baby without killing the lair or if possible any of the adults there. Once you tame your low-level baby mark the spot with a waypoint and move on to another spawn with a baby. Keep doing this until you are full up in the data pad and pop down a camp and bring out your babies and train them commands.

Now since you are just going to release these babies as soon as you are done with them just train them the same word/letter for every command and make it a hot key on your toolbar. F1 is the best because of its closeness to the ~ key. While you are there training your babies the marked spots where you got them will have respawned more babies for you to come buy and pick up. Depending on the density of spawns with babies and how long you can do this each session you will make be able to handle higher level pets in no time. Once you reach the ability to handle CL 30 and are able to have two pets out at once you can start using some Cowardly Gurrecks to take the edge off the grind and blow off some steam by going out and killing some things.

If you can find a Master that does not have a full stable to help you there is another faster way to do this. You can both go out to the same area and collect low level pets and while you are training them commands your buddy is out getting more and bringing them back to you. I hope my info will be of some small help to you.

My method of choice was. To go tame a rock beetle after you get your first box. It is a very capable little pet, and after level three it can take quite a thrashing. Though training xp is by far the slowest way. You will get a hundred points per rill and wort and 90 for the others just outside of eisley. Which is a very nice town to grind out of by the way. Right now your fascilities are close. Stocked with entertainers and a medcenter nearby. You have fields of fifty of these little critters that spawn fast. Means you can just back and forth it sicking the pet on one then you kill it.

Here is a really good one for easy xp. Once your pet grows a bit go to fort tusken in the afternoon. Its packed with people fighting tuskens. Now stick close to people fighting tuskens. When they engage the tuskens sick your pet on the tusken quick let it get in a hit and give it the follow command. You get full ch points rarely hurting your pet or yourself.

I would advise some really high xp payouts, but I doubt that you have anyother skills. I have master bh so I went to the blueleaf and woolamander temples on yavin running back and forth useing a cowardly gurrek. The klikniks and woolamander are very vulnerable to bh weapons. So my can would get a nice xp payout from one hit and I would polish them off. Being buffed was a must. So I could round up 60000 ch xp an hour.

Actually, the one hit with a baby is the fastest way by far. The problem with the taming meathod is pretty elementary . . . you need babies. Babies are few and far between compared to easy level spawns. Grab yourself a young wrix or something, go up against the low level animals, send in your baby, as soon as you see the mobs HAM move you whack it.

I enjoyed the gurrcats from Rori to start... let them grow up b4 useing in full combat...remeber if they touch the enemy and come back the xp is the same as if they killed it all by them selves... So shoot the target and send in the pets... recal pets and kill the target yourself ...until you get up a bit.

GL2U I left CH and returned 3 times! I love it and you can solo all night after a while...stick with it man!
