Been like this since beta and has been reported in both live and beta many times by myself and friends. Go into combat check the group and your pet is suddenly 2000m away.

Easier now as a master CH as i just go down from 3 to 1 or 2 but still a great way for me and the party to die.

So the question is will it go on being ignored?

the only thing that seems important to them right now is exploits, so those of us that don't exploit and have tons of problems in the game just have to sit and deal with it. my pet teleporting on me is extremely annoying, as is the fact that it can't understand how to follow me all the time and just stops for no reason.

another extremely annoying bug is using burst run to run away, getting into water, and *poof* you're behind your attacker so they can pummel you some more. every single time i burst run into the water i see rubberbanding.

hopefully in 3 months they'll have all the exploits fixed and start working on the millions of bugs.

I've had lots of trouble with pets warping or disappearing altogether on Naboo, but not any other planet. Has anyone had these problems on a different planet?

Have had it happen a few times on tatooine. Most of the time it happens when they go through a small depression in a hill. They probobly get stuck and then warp to a safe spot. Had it happen once just after giving it the Group command, which bugged me from forming a group again till I had someone else make the group then make me the group leader and /disbanded it.

My biggest beef is pets getting frozen all the time. You'll be running and suddenly notice your pet stopped 200m back. So then you have to run within 10 meters before it will listen to your follow command. Sometimes even that doesn't work and you have to interact by feeding it or something. And of course sometimes THAT doesn't even work.

I thought my cu pa was bad, but then I tamed a rancor and he gets stuck every 2 minutes. :\

Rancors walk on the ground. It's even more annoying when my giant peko peko, who flies 30 feet above the ground, gets stuck on rocks. There's like 20 feet of clearance between its feet and the top of the rocks, and it gets stuck. **edit**?

This just happened to me on Endor. Was fighting a flying animal at the time. I guess we should just use /bug if it happens to any of us. The more people that /bug them, the more likely it is to get noticed.

connection speed, frame rate, and packet loss are going to be the main reasons behind this.. I only lose my pet when i hit a spike.. As for running into water, check your frame rates when you do that.. and also check your sound.. If you have a glitchy sound card that takes a few secs to process swimming sounds.. thats why you warp.. same for frame rates, if your vid card cant keep up with you running, you'll lag, the mob wont.. you're caught..

You can't really explain away the problem as lag as if there is nothing that can be done about it. Lag is the act of the client display getting behind the server then jumping forward to catch up. Thus by the definition of lag the server still knows where you/it should be. Ever try to tame a pet then suddenly get the, "You target is too far away" message then suddenly you see that your target had indeed wonder away it just hadn't updated on your screen? That proves that the server is still updating positions even though your client isn't. So it could be lag that causes your pet to stop following you but if it is it's also really poor programming that is causing the real problem, as the pet should perhaps stop, but then warp up to you when the lag spike is over.

Actually.. The pet is only moving because you are close to it and made it follow.. If you are ever following someone in the game, hit a lag spike, you dont warp to the personyou were following..

So yes. lag is a major reason for a pet to stop following. Since its a pet, its no longer a true NPC. It probably uses the same /follow code as a PC. As long as you are close enough, you move, if you get to far, you stop. You lag, theserver sidestops taking your position (because you arent sending/recieving packets properly) but on client side you keep running, then packets start going again and the server side gets the update where you are, pet is too far to be moving, and he's out of range so he stops. Even a packet loss of 2-3 seconds could be enough to stop your pet... It'd look like he's only 50m away, and you think he gave up, but you really hit a small lag spike and he got outta range.

As for warping, it could have something to do with the way the terrain is changeable and the pet gets stuck under it somehow. Ever set up a camp on the slope of a dune? it flattens it to a certain level. I've been warped by this before. Just a possibility.

AHA!!! Thank you so much, you're brilliant! I had the same problem, and couldn't figure out how to fix it. I'm going to post this as it's own topic.
