Thread: ive never played wow
When you tame a creature in the WoW level based systemthey start out at their displayed level (SWG equiv would be say a chuba lvl 1) as you fight with them and they get xp and you get xp they grow in level just as you do. If you stable the pet and use another (you can only keep 1 in your "datapad" in WoW and only 2 in the stable) then you can get higher in level but the one in the stable stays at its last level till you take it out and work with it.
As to applying that here I prefered the old way of the pet growing into its abilities. Could some training be added? probably. there are rumors. ![]()

Here's the way I look at it. We had 800+ tamable creatures before the CU. Now there are even more. Having an unlimited datapad for pets would be a nice addition to the game. Or at least expanding our datapad to 100 like the waypoint part of the datapad. It would greatly enhance the fun factor and you would have the space to try out those pet duo's or trio's.
In WoW pets start at the level you tame them at. Humar the Pridelord, a black lion, is level 23 when you first tame him. When you first tame a pet in WoW you must gain its trust. This means feeding it and using it in battle. Once he trusts you enough you get training points to add special attacks to him. Until he gains your trust you have no pet specials. Afterward, you have to keep the pet well fed. If he gets to the starving stage he'll desert you. While the WoW hunter class is nice you don't have near as many creatures you can tame. Any elite/rare you tame is reduced to normal. It wasn't that way before--they nerfed it. WoW is just different. Yes, thepets scale with you as you level. When you reach level 60 the pet is full grown.

I think the stable is useless now. We don't need 20 pets now except to matchwith differentoutfits. Specials don't work (as if they ever did), your pet means nothing unless it is 70th level, and no matter what it is it still has the same stats as any boring creature of it's level. I can't sell mounts anymore so the only need I ever had for more storage is gone. At what it takes for a damn mount to finally grow in my datapad I would never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever make a profit worth the damn time to do it. It is still just a giant cluster.....fooey, yeah that's the word I want, clusterfooey.
Couldnt have said it better myself.
- Pets have specials. Not all creature types can learn all specials. There are 2 types of damaging specials you can use (high damage, slow recharge; low damage, faster recharge), in addition to such things as 'Dash', which is a burst of speed for your pet. You can also take control of your pet for short periods of time to take advantage of any special abilities it posseses (stealth detection) or to simply scout around in dangerous territory.
- Pets have a 'taunt' special that auto casts or not, depending on how you choose to use it. You train various levels of this ability as you and your pet level up, as lower-level versions stop being effective the higher your target's level.
- Pets have 3 "states" you can set. Aggressive (attacks anything on sight), Defensive (will attack anything that attacks it or yourself) and Passive (will not attack unless told to do so)
- Different creatures have different stats, split between Damage/Hitpoints/Armor. There isn't really an "uber" beast, as they're all balanced between those 3 areas. Some have higher damage but lower HP/Armor. Some have high armor but low damage. Some are a medium balance between all 3.
- You can improve the stats of your pets through 'talents', a kind of skillpoint allocation system where you can improve abilities. Beast Mastery skills improve your pets through increased speed, damage, hitpoints, and adds such abilities as the ability to regain health (to yourself) from your pet attacking another creature.

Let me Clarify. What he means by "take control" he means you move your point of awareness into your pet and see thru your pets eyes. You will attack with your pet's specials etc. For the short time you "become" your pet. While in this mode you are not attacking with your normal "body" and it is unprotected unless you have groupmates.
