Thread: Advance as CH?

I'm at level 21 and I've just become Novice CH. And I've tamed some babys. However that doesn't really give alot of XP, and fighting with my tamed pets doesn't really go very well. And when it does i only get around 20 in CH XP. How the hell am I supposed to advance as a CH at this rate? It seems to me as I am missing something here, does anyone have any tips how to advance more quickly?

IT has been my experience that you need to hang back on BIG hunting parties, let your pet fight as much as possible, spend all your credits on Pet MED's and Stims. The stronger your pet the better. Head to Dant Mountain Outpost, Head to Tat Mos Eisley, head to Kashykk find a big group, even if you cant group your pet just keep a close watch on it until the target is gone.

One very effective option ought to be training. I was getting 400+ CH XP for every command trained. So go tame and release a bunch of pets. See also if you can find a BE who is learning and has lots of junk pets who might give them to you
or sell them to you cheap. Tame, train and release. You do not have to keep them to full grown to train them.
As to combat, my char that will be needing to lvl CH is not quite novice yet so I can't tell you what is the best combat method
but in general if you tank for the pet and the target is your lvl or close and the pet gets at least 1 hit you should get good xp.
If that isn't working anymore get into a group and as a group go for big targets. Send in your pet later in the battle so the aggro is firmly established on others. As long as your pet is not incapped when the target dies you should get good xp

When i first started grinding CH. i was the same level as you are now and had a lvl 4 woolamander as a pet (man, that thing looked funny running into battle against lvl 82 pikets)
I'm lucky that i have a large guild. I joined one of there hunting parties. stood at the back and just issued commands to my pet.
I was getting 1000-1500 xp per kill.
About 40k per lair from creatures and a bonus 7k xp for hitting the lair.
Becuase i was with a strong grinding group, it took about 10mins to take out a lair. i was earning 250k xp per hour.
the higher my level got the higher my xp got.
