Thread: So why dont we get ranged and melee defense

I don't understand why we don't get any defense bonuses either.
I tried going the route of having CH as my only combat profession, so that I could do some crafting. But I was taking so much damage from white cons because of my super low defenses, that fighting was too dangerous to be worth it. And that was with some nice armor on too!
So now I'm CH/BH, and can actually hold my own in combat.
According to this, we are not a full combat class, but a support class. At least that's how I interpret this graph:

accually im not new but im going to assumeyour being sarcastic, as to the support combat class yes that would be how i interput that graph also however Carbineer, combat Medic, commando and fencer which are all in the same area all have defences along with toughness an dweopon speed and all sorts of other things .....
because in theory our pets should be effective tanks, takeing the aggro for us.
In a sense they are our defense bonouses.
That is the theory one that has never worked out.
It started with the patch that gave a chance for the target to realize that there was a CH controlling the pet and it would directly attack the CH. That made it a requirement to have a 2nd elite profession for some sort of damage mitigation. Now the Hate system has just taken that adjustment and made it so that if you have novice marksman you can do more dps than your pets and garner all the "hate".
Don't ever expect defensive bonouses, the devs have never lived down CH being the only working profession when SWG went gold, therefore makeing it "pokemon galaxies" because everyone was a CH.
