Thread: Angry Novice CH Here...
Welcome to the wonderful ignored world of the CH.
We have issues from beta that still exist.
Just wait until you have to chase down a flier. Ugh! I don't think they're as fast or as far ranging as they used to be though.
The level of the creature is irreleveant for taming, unless it says (baby) a the end of the name, it's untamable.
It is possible to tame a baby without maskscent up, but I highly recommend you put it up anyway. I can get away with things as an MCH that you can't hope to simply because my odds of taming are much better due to skill modifiers.
There is a bug that's cropping up that when a creature goes into the "retreat" mode, it sets up a situtation where a CH can't tame anything at all. If that happens, best bet is to log out and log back in to clear this invisible state that you may have been put into.
1. ONLY something that has "(baby)" in its name is tameable. So you should see something like, "lesser womp rat (baby)" and it will be very small.
2. You cannot tame "vicious" creatures (things that are hostile red dots on your radar) as easily as non-vicious ones. Even if the babies seem non-hostile (yellow), if the adults would be red dots, the babies are considered vicious. They are harder to tame and you only get bonuses from the left most skill branch for taming them.
3. The current level of the critter is NOT its tame level... the adult level is. How do you know the adult level? Look at the surrounding adults. For example, say you can tame up to 10 level creatures. You see a "level 1" cu pa (baby) so you figure you can tame it. Right now it is level 1, so it looks OK. BUT... the surrounding adults are level 15. This means that the baby is going to grow into a level 15 creature, and that is above your tame level, so you cannot tame it yet.
What you need to do is find babies in a mass of level 10 or lower ADULTS. The babies of those adults will be tameable as level 1 babies. Even a Fambaa (level 22) or something will have level 1 or 2 babies... but the babies will be level 22 when they grow up so you can't tame them yet a as a novice.

I am finding that mask scent on Dathomir is like a death wish now. Without it I can crawl all through gray conning MOBs, with it on, it will invariably fail leaving me to fight the gray con MOBs. I have had more luck taming without it than with it on Dath. Mask scent seems to be working like way back in the old days.
The way I see it working now is that once you initiate mask scent it checks your mask scent rating against surrounding MOBs, and rolls the dice. If you pass you get the scout xp, if you fail it brings the attention of a creature that, if vicious, will attack you. If you dont initiate mask scent then there is no check and gray con MOBs will not attack. This was like back in the fall of 2003 when yellow (non aggro) MOBs would attack when you failed your mask scent check, so that something that wouldnt normally attack you now does because of your enhanced ability. Maybe the creatures are just angry we are hiding from them.
that i found funny nice merib his is what ch is about the realism and madness of hard tames
I've never been a talior or BE so these things i don't yet understand!
If i went out wearing:
Sunhat +25 tame
Shirt +25 tame
Pants +25 tame
and eating +tame food then my bonus and chance of taming would be alot better then me just wearing what i do now.
My +25 hat and eating munchies
well fist you make sure that (baby) is in the name than mask scent now i /pet the baby while im taming seems to work better for me. thean /tame
now if this still does not work open the holocron do a search and than scroll down till you see send in ticket anyway, or you can /bug you may be buged..
