Thread: Can Pets Be Used On Nightsister Hunts?

If you get the right pet - something with AR and high energy resists - can they be moderately useful in Nightsister fights, or are they pretty dead no matter how good they are?

Depends on what sort of nightsister you are hunting and what the party makeup is. You can use pets on Krayts with some efficiency so you should be able to do it on Nightsisters. You just have to be very selective (as nightsisters have varying damage types) and careful (bring along a CM or plenty of pet stims). Good pets have much higher HAM than players and decent resists to most stuff.

This is most likely a bug.

I have hunted nightsisters with pets before, back pre December nerf (GSP and gorge vesp). It can be done, but nowadays pets are so realtively fragile that it may be a near thing.

Hmmm... I hunted some nightsister rangers a few days ago, they hit me with some sort of lighting attack and two of the with some surpression attack, basically I looked at my stats and saw -700 modifiers across the board. If that ain't force powers I want to know what class I need to be to get those attacks..

Try the ones weilding a power hammer. Definatley not kinetic as it disregards blast vulnerable armor..

When did they lose their force powers? I was on Dath just a few days ago driving back to the outpost when I inadvertantly drove thru a group of nightsisters (don't know what kind) and immediately I was attacked and started choking. Lost half of my health just like that before I got out of range.

As for pets, they might be able to distract the nightsister long enough for you to kill her. If you can do a lot of damage fast, your pets might survive. And as Nemo pointed out, the kind of nightsis would make a difference.

Take pets with armor & high resists, get them buffed up by docs and pet food, and have the CM stand by with the area heals ... rush in to stim the pets as frequently as possible ...

They can be helpful tanks against Nightsisters. My Boar Wolf Ravagers (Porky & Porkchop) have done fairly well on such hunts with their 50/50 kinetic/blast resists. Also check the Nightsister type for resists ... if they're 100% kinetic there's not much point, is there?

Since the purpose of the pets is to tank, not inflict damage, the 100% kin resist would be irrelevant, unless that means the nighsisters focus their attention elsewhere. Having a TKA/TKM tank for you will accomplish the same thing, so long as it keeps the attention of the nightsisters so that the rest of the hunting party doesn't take damage.

Boar wolves with high kin resist would be a good choice. Even better would be multiple CHs with gaping spider hunters.

I certainly hope that the nighsisters behaving like TKAs is a bug. The whole idea should be for them to be hurling force powers at you to make it interesting. Turning them into routine mobs is so very boring.
