Well, I have some advice for you, my friend: Don't even bother looking for these pets because all of them have been nerfed and suck horribly. If you want a HALFWAY decent pet, get a Master Bio-engineer and have him/her make one for you. But be warned, they will still be "TKA'd" (Hehe, for those of you who didn't pick that up, it's a play on "TKO'd") in PvP and be rendered totally useless...
But since you asked, I will tell you where to find the following:
Baby rancor: On Dathomir, west of the Northern outpost (Labor outpost), there is a huge indentation in the planet map. This is a massive pit where the Dathomir lesser sarlacc is located. This entire pit is usually filled with rancor of all types, and you are surely going to find a baby there..just watch your back; sometimes those rannies sneak up on you real quiet-like. It may take a little bit of time to find a baby, and you may have to tap a lair or two, so just have some patience and you will find one eventually.
Baby Grauls 'n Graul Maulers: Head to the Dantooine Imperial outpost. You can usually get missions for normal graul or graul maulers right off the terminals, if you're high enough in whatever combat profession you are to make one appear on there. If not, group some pets, or group with a friend or two. I did this back when I was experimenting with Bio-engineer and was still Master Creature Handler and got very frustrated many times because the lairs would spawn graul mauler babies far too often. This also could take a little time..I'm pretty sure that the spawn rates of all babies have been tweaked since I was a Bio-engineer, so just be patient and you will have yourself a graul. Oh, but Frenzied grauls are now tamable, as I have heard, so I would invest in searching around the Dantooine Imperial outpost for one of those, if you're into using a single titan-like pet instead of two or three crap ones.
Baby Mereks: Head to the Endor Smuggler outpost and grab missions for them. If you're looking specifically for something called "a merek", you will not find one in the wild. Those are the Bio-engineered ones. However, you can find delirious merek avenger babies, toxic merek battlelord babies, merek cavern creeper babies, and on some rare occassions, merek death's head babies (one of which I have, they have nice damage, crappy resistances and no vulnerabilities, but they are rare, look cool, and make a nifty noise).
As for baby GSP's, I have never seen a baby greater sludge panther in my life in the wild..this is mostly due to the fact that I don't spend a lot of time on Corellia or Talus (I do believe they are found on both planets).
My input on CH leveling..Well, I mastered Creature Handler far before all the XP nerfs and the insane nerfs on all wild creatures and mobs, so I'm not too certain about what is the best method for the present. I leveled most of CH by going to Blueleaf Temple on Yavin IV with a friend and a doctor, whip out one of my mountain squills and my savage pugoriss, and start the killin'. Then when the entire temple was cleaned out, we'd head to the Palace of the Woolamander, which is only aout 1.5km away from the Blueleaf Temple. We'd then wipe that place out, head back to Blueleaf, and wait for the re-spawn..which usually didn't take long. Sometimes it would start re-spawning as we came back from the Woolamanders and we'd have a perfect leveling method from which we all benefitted. Me and my other CH friend got good XP, all three of us got weapons XP, and the doctor would get healing XP from healing us and the pets (this was before they made it so pets did not give healing XP).
Furthermore, considering the fact that this was way back when the dark klikniks that inhabited that temple had light armor and good resists, it is even easier to do now, although the XP may suck. I wouldn't know since my Creature Handling experience has been capped for a long time..but it is worth a shot.
Taming is also a pretty good, but boring way to level. I wouldn't do it until you know a lot of commands to teach the pet. Taming is how I grinded my way to master...it was the day before the first day of school and the last day of summer. My goal for the summer had been to master CH (yes, I have no life), and I only needed a wee bit more XP, so I went out north of Bestine, and was lucky enough to find about 4 nests within a couple hundred meters of eachother that ALL had babies at them. So, I tamed, trained, and released until I got that XP I needed for Empathy IV. Too bad it's all going to waste, now, since this profession is eventually going to be nerfed into extinction...But good luck in your Creature Handling career, kind sir.
Hello, im a Master Bio engineer on Eclipse, im also a swg obssessive player so i have 5 accounts allthogether, i know i killed interdependancy
, but ill cut to the chase.
the only pets that are wild that are worth tameing are the Rares, Mantrigue Nightstalker with that AoE atttack, that is just because Bio eningeers can not transfer som specials to clones.
Merks, Rancors and Grauls can all be made by a Bio engineer, GSP can not be made in that variant but we can also make Razor Cats which use the same body as the GSP.
As a word of advice, anything larger than a dewback is going to give you headaches, i hunt on lok with my BH/CH and when i use my Kimo he gets stuck on buildings ALOT, use a razor cat or two and i can jump on a swoop and have them keep pace for a good 500m, i have to stop every so often to let them catch up.
Of all the clones the Angler is the best at this time, Because they do not suffer from that Run away/Chase bug
See Rancors/Grauls have hit boxes that are where there bellys are, so like if the mob that attack is not there, they chase it, unless they have ranged,
my Ch only Tames for Fun, and only tames creatures for show.
Bio engineer'd pets with the exception of a few Rare spawns can make pets that are FAR superior to wild pets.
Btw my favorite pet is a toss up betwwen a CL 31 KimA w45% kinetic and energy and AR 1 and probally my Acid/Electricty/Heat Proof Razor Cat with KD and strong Disease 0 armor but a Bounty hunter cant touch him with standard arms, nor can a pistoleer or any of the advanced professions useing the acid or heat weapons.
as far as the direction, just use your world map to locate your friendly neighborhood bioengineer.
i strongly disagree. my mainstay pet pair since wayyyyyyyyyyy back has been 2 mountain squills from tatooine. they make by far best pets. not necessarily because of their stats or abilities, which are very well rounded off and not bad anyways, but because they are most obedient, respond to commands teh fastest, they are relatively small so i can use them in tight spaces, they dont run away and dont cause lag liek meklocs, rancors etc.
i have yet to run into a single pet or pet combo that will be better.
2nd best pets to me seem to be BE rancors, and i have yet to try out a few Kimogilas. Kimos might beat rancors, not sure yet.
