Thread: Please help, trouble teaching commands!!!!
Mypersonal preference inteaching pet commandsisto use /tellpet command. That is, follow steps Maelas listed except that instead of just typing Attack, type /tellpet attack. (Nothing wrong with just typing the command as in Maelas' example, but I'll explain in a bit why I prefer /tellpet). As was pointed out, you may have to attempt to teach a command more than once (especially for higher level pets). I've created macros for all the pet commands so that I don't have to keep typing it out.
If you want the command to say something other than Attack, follow the same steps except that instead of typing attack (or /tellpet attack), type the command the way you want it to read. So, if you want the letter 'a' to represent attack, after clicking on "attack" in pet radial instead of typing Attack you type 'a' (or /tellpet a).
The reason Iuse /tellpet to teach commands, ratherthanjust typing the command, is to cut down on the spam. If you type just the command, you'll see a dialogue "bubble" everytime you use it. I find that annoying and particularly when there is already a lot of spam floating around. So, in effect, using /tellpet to teach commands is a "silent" way to command your pet. Some people like to see their words hanging in the air when they command their pets. I don't is all.
So to recap: bring up pet radial, click on command you want to teach, type the command - or /tellpet command -and don't forget to hit enter
I did that once - and stared at the screen for the longest time wondering why my pet didn't respond! Repeat if necessary. Again, I recommend making macros for your pet commands.
