Mypersonal preference inteaching pet commandsisto use /tellpet command. That is, follow steps Maelas listed except that instead of just typing Attack, type /tellpet attack. (Nothing wrong with just typing the command as in Maelas' example, but I'll explain in a bit why I prefer /tellpet). As was pointed out, you may have to attempt to teach a command more than once (especially for higher level pets). I've created macros for all the pet commands so that I don't have to keep typing it out.

If you want the command to say something other than Attack, follow the same steps except that instead of typing attack (or /tellpet attack), type the command the way you want it to read. So, if you want the letter 'a' to represent attack, after clicking on "attack" in pet radial instead of typing Attack you type 'a' (or /tellpet a).

The reason Iuse /tellpet to teach commands, ratherthanjust typing the command, is to cut down on the spam. If you type just the command, you'll see a dialogue "bubble" everytime you use it. I find that annoying and particularly when there is already a lot of spam floating around. So, in effect, using /tellpet to teach commands is a "silent" way to command your pet. Some people like to see their words hanging in the air when they command their pets. I don't is all.

So to recap: bring up pet radial, click on command you want to teach, type the command - or /tellpet command -and don't forget to hit enter I did that once - and stared at the screen for the longest time wondering why my pet didn't respond! Repeat if necessary. Again, I recommend making macros for your pet commands.

Hello all! I recently became a novice CH. I have tamed my first animal. How do I teach it commands and how do I get it to follow those commands? Using the radial button I see three possible commands...store, follow me and attack. When I click on any of them my creature just gets a ? over its head. How do I teach it commands and how do I name those commands? THANKS!!!!!

Use the radial menu, and after you get that little question mark over it's head, just type out the command you want it to use.

Example:

Bring up radial

Click on train

Click on attack command

Pet will have ? over it

Type out, Attack

As long as it says that it learned it, every time you say attack, it will try and attack the target you have selected.

Sometimes it takes a few tries to train something.

Here you go.One small step, yeah right. When you see the ? say comand word or letteror use /tellpet comand.example you click on store, you see the ? then you say s or /tellpet s and then you will see a ! appear and then recieve points for traing your pet.you may recieve a pet does not understand message and you must repete the whole process again until it understands with a exclamation mark !The higher the critter and intellegent or lack of, the harder it can be to train.Good luck Friend.
