Thread: Assist command for pets?

This is been something I've been thinking of for a while. I know that myself, Iike to use one creature for tanking and the other 1-2 for ranged damage support. Ideally, I'd like to have to order my one tank pet to attack, and then have the others attack automatically.

I know, defend will work like that. But I don't want them to attack until after the tank pet has a solid grasp on the target, or else the ranged supporters will get aggro and probably get incapped. So what about a command that is like Defend, but has a delay to it? Say, 5 seconds or so? That way, you would be able to have a support pet without fearing them getting killed.

Now, since I don't have any combat skills of my own, combat is generally slow for my Creature Handler anyway, so I'm not too worried about just ordering my ranged pets to attack afterwards. But I also like to use a pet/droid/faction petfor pretty much every other toon I have. Normally, I like to set them on Defend with me so that they attack automatically. But if I do this, they will probably draw aggro because they start attacking immedietly, particularly on something that is aggro and attacks me first. Then they end up being incapped, or in the case of factional pets, killed. This has more or less lead me to stop using them as much, because combat will be fairly quick for a master combat profession, thus ifI have to start the fight and then order them myself the mob will probably be dead, not to mention if I'm trying to fight 5 stormies or whatever, I don't want to have to be barking commands to my pet at the same time. All of the pets I use are for support, I generally serve as the tank, so I really would like to keep them out of harms way and let them be just that, support.

What's everyone think?

you could just make hotkeys for the existing commands and simply press 1 button after you see that your tank has the targets attention.

Yah, thatsmy current method, but it'd be less of a hassle with a different system.

try this macro.

/tellpet kill; (attack command for tank)

/pause 5;

/tellpet fire; (attack command for ranged pet)

This will send your main tank in to aggro the target then 5 seconds later it will make your ranged pet attack. And if you find your pet still gets incapped try a longer pause.
