why? cant shoot from a mount anymore. either I need to be able to blast a few shots while riding my mount or the speed reduction needs to go. previously you could do basic attacks while riding mounts. i reported this as a bug at the start of CU when it was changed but now publish 17 is here and still no change.

They will never remove the slow down because it keeps us from being able to kite mobs and then run out of their distance, effectively making it impossible for a mob to hit a mounted player.

How do you kite if you can't fire?

yes, but we cannot shoot from mounts now apparently. with mounts slowing down, it is a moot point. I used to like to ride mounts for the 'feel' of it and then gallop away so I could get past the pesky encounters. With system now, the mount slows down so the pesky encounters can annoy me. What is the point in having a mount then if you slow down?
I can see the point of not being able to shoot from a vehicle because of the speed, but a mount, most of them are not that fast.

Almost got killed because of that Its actualy faster to dis mount and use burst run. Its kind of sad when you can run faster the the fastest mount in the game.

Devs,
Either let us attack while mounted (doughtfuk) or remove mount slowdown. just take out some code (i know it's more difficult than that, but a lot easier than affing stuff). Or, if unarmed, no slowdown.
for now, there's always /gallop. Too bad the "cool down time" is so long. Decreasing the time to 15 min or less woul be a big help.
BTW. I don't know if it's still in-game, but afer CU, my Bantha was attacked by creature (I think it way have been aggred on me too). When it got hit, it bucked up, then prceeded to to do a /gallop all by itself. When we were clear, it bucked up again & slowed down. What caught my attention (besides the bucking) was that he seemed to be going faster than /gallop. Also, it didn't accually ude the /gallop, so I had that in reserve. Now, how to figure out a way to get this to happen all the time

i think they actually just bugged the shooting while on a mount thing. they changed the combat system along with the way you queue attacks so most likely they forgot to also change the mount combat. Ko-aIri, if you're reading this could you mention it to the devs and see what they say about it? i already /bug-ed it but no change. you might have better luck with an answer.

I've already raised the issue to the devs and am hoping for a fix of some description. The basic problem is that post-CU, all attacks are technically "specials" so they can't be executed from a mount.
I've asked that they either make the basic Melee Hit, Ranged Shot, Saber Hit and Force Hit attacks count as "default attacks" so they can be used while mounted, or remove the slowdown when attacked since we can't fight back and it's resulting in us getting killed.

But they weren't always treated as specials, at one point very early in the beta testing for the CU you COULD fire from a mount. The only issue was that it wouldn't default to attacking, even if you had your default set to the Ranged/Melee hit, you would have to use the radial menu, /attack, or keep hitting the key for Ranged/Melee hit in order to fight. Not sure what happened, but unless they changed some core code, my thinking is the mounted combat thing was intended to be taken out for some dumb reason. Its the only real reason to use mounts, except in Kashyyyk area's where there are no vehicles. I'm hoping it is a bug, but I can see it being intended.
