I began my career in SWG (career, life style not job, game) as a scout cause I wanted to explore the countryside a bit. I picked up aritsan too so I could do surveying and collect resources for a bit of crafting that I have always enjoyed in other games. As I progressed I could see the value of merchant and even before I joined SWG I would think of owning a small shop to sell my wares. As I progressed with 2 good friends it became clear that I would need protection out in the wild and that my friends got bored quickly with surveying and harvester maint. Even getting them to go out with me to plant a harvester on their lot became a chore for us.
One of my friends happend to go up the CH tree as it facinated her at the time. Going out with her and guildmates on hunting trips I quickly saw the advantage of CH for a crafter/surveyor like myself. I started up the CH tree knowing full well that it would limit any other elite combat profession I might become intrested in. As I progressed I gathered babies (Jaws, my first tame a Peko Peko and others) raised them and trained them. Because of my chosen path of neutral and my schedule and my surveying and harvesting I found that I was most often a solo player. My pets were my constant companions. Guarding me, keeping me company on long walks in the wilderness. Never complaining, always there 24 hrs a day.
In time I became a Master Creature Handler and a Master Merchant. Then came the Great Nerf of Dec 2003 and the first combat rebalance. My friend gave up CH cause it was not enough to help her defeat the evil empire. I stayed on since my pets continued to serve me.
Then came the dark times when the creatures stopped following us, couldnt keep up with our speeders, had trouble holding aggro. No materI stayed with the profession. I pulled the pets out only ocassionaly because with a speeder I could (and still can) drive thru the aggro and survive. My pets protected me when they could so I would not throw them away when they couldn't keep up.
In recent past my pets began to get new abilities. They seemed to be a bit faster, They got lost less often. They became more able to protect me and survive themselves.
Then I heard of the E.L.E. I was in shock for quite a few hours as I went thru post after post.
The Empire had decreed that all pet owners of dangerous or large pets shall confine those pets to their cages. No exceptions. No leash law.
Some nice friends (I have met so many both ingame and this forum) suggested a "hunter" class
Hmmmm. In SWG I found a virtual world with a rich panorama of things to do and be with few restrictions. The proposed hunter class could hunt. Thats it. Just a game. From a world with rich diversity of things to do and be In my case, hunter, miner, crafter, creature handler. to just a hunter.
It just doesn't seem to be enough. So limited in scope and vision. I don't know where I can go. yet.
