Thread: Let me get this straight
I played for six hours last night on Dathomir with my CH buddies. Downtimes were less than 5 minutes each time we healed pets/switched them out. I don't know any CH who does not have at least novice medic skills, if you are one of the few who does not have medic skills, then you are ineffective in this profession. Switch professions, train up medic, or play with friends who have medic skill. Those are yourchoices if you want to keep playing this game.
I know this sounds like a "tough love" response, but this class is the most fun of any I have played if you play it right. There is no downtime, there is no major setback, there is only a large amount of fun to be had playing this class, as long as you play it well and use it to the fullest potential.
I will help you in any way I can, but you will need to be willing to try what I already know works.

I fell your pain man, but honestly, in order to have full power out of CH, you need Medic skills, and rightly so. We are VERY powerful with just Pistoleer/Medic/CH. If oyu want to play other professions then start another account and fire up another machine, then you can play them both at the same time if you like. Having two machines/accts will also allow you to not worry about downtime, you just go over to the other machine and work on the other character while your CHpets heal up.
This was the major way it was done in EQ, still seems to be valid in this game also.

I don't mind taking a little medic skills to help out with my pets - My question though is for Zamtok!. Where did you stick your points in the medic profession (i.e. what boxes did you take etc..). Just curious and it would be very helpful when planning my template since mine looks similar to yours (master CH/novice medic/pistoleer).
I traine up the entire scout tree except for Trapping and Survival (need those points for other things). I did not get Master Scout (dont really need it and skill point cost is high). ThenI Trained up CH to master. While training up master CH I was training up to Pistoleer (made Pistoleer WAY faster than CH). During that time I also worked my way up Medic to master.
So here is the template of this toon:
Scout - Everything but trapping, survival, and master scout
CH - Everything to master
Medic - Everything to master
Marksman - Pistol all the way up to Pistoleer
This template leaves about 15-20 skill points left over. This I intend on using for Pistoleer once the weapons are actually being made for that profession. Other than that, there is nothing else trained unless you want to do some surveying or other basic things, you have a few skill points left over.

BTW, this template allows you to keep your 6000+ ham pets fully healed, all your buddies in the group healed. It also allows you to do decent damage with a pistol AND have the best tanking pets in the game. In other words, I love this profession/template. It is more fun than I have ever had in ANY MMORPG out of all I have played (DOAC, AC2, EQ).

I have med skills and they work fine for healing me, but when you have to heal 2 pets that have 11k each, it really stinks. Now you might think I am treating my pets like cannon fodder, sending them into a big group of mobs, but I dont. What normally happens is I spend 5 mins trying to pull a mob from group, the pets fight it, almost kill it, then the mob takes off back to group pulling my pets right into you know where. Try as I might there is no way for me to turn them back. Next thing I know I have 2 pets fighting 6 mobs, when all is said and done, i got 2 incap pets and an hour wait ahead of me. There has to be a better way.
Well, you really need to be able to make your own Stim-A's at least (we use Stim-D's). And you need fast recovery and best use of the stims so I would go Chemistry/First Aid or Chem/Pharm or Chem/Diag.

UFGator,
You are fighting the wrong mobs then. On Dathomir we fight Baz Nitch which are all single pull/non agro. If you want to fight aggresive creatures you should be in a group with other CH's, Tera's Kazi, Rifleman. At this point one of the CH's needs to pull out the highest armored pet they have (typically an Arachne Warrior with 8500 ham and 2 armor). All CH's and Medics in the group help heal the Arachne and the Arachne is ALWAYS sent in first. The Arachne gets a bunch of damage in (like take the Baz Nitch 10000hp down to about 8000), then all other pets are sent in and the CH's and medics help heal the Arachne and the melee's. All melee in group MUST understand that the pets are the tanks for the group, NOT the melee's. If everyone understands this and let's the CH's pull the mobs in, then noone dies.
Now, here is how it is done on agro mobs (groups of Rancor especially). The CH parks the pets about 100m outside the group of Rancor you are hunting. One of the CH's get's one Rancor on the outside of the pack and slowly creeps up on him till he is within 60m. The CH then stands there until the Rancor goes into stalking mode after seeing him standing there. The Rancor will then start slowly walking towards the CHwho is the bait. Once the Rancor gets out of the pack by a good 50m, the CH puts the tanking pet on him immediately. Now all the rest of the group join in and start killing the Rancor and all CH's and Medics help heal the tanking pet and the melee's.
In the above situations there is NO, I repeat ZERO downtime, none, zilch. Everyone in the group gets absolutely massive exp (like 100k + in three hours, regardless of skill being trained).

If you take pharm to 3 you can use experimented stim C's, and I think you can use stim d's at pharm 4. For most stuff C's are more than fine, but you do have to buy special medicine.
Player made stuff from doctors and whatnot is so much better than what you can do in organic chem there's not much point in it. Unless you're cheap and will settle for healing for 1/2 what you could be at same level. ![]()
