Thread: How am i supposed to get CH Exp?
sciguyCO wrote:12k in what? Per lair? Per hour? In the past couple hours? The xp split between different types (weapon and CH in this case) depends on the amount of damage you do the mob. If you do 2000 damage with a pistol and your pet does 500 damage, your xp will be split 20% CH and 80% pistol xp. If your group is ok with it (an important detail, since you're reducing the group's damage potential) you can get more CH xp per kill by having only your pet do damage. Just have your character not do any attacks and direct your pet to each mob. There are creatures with AoE attacks, but I'm not sure if there's a list you can check. I know Giant Pharples (CL 55) have AoE (having my pet aggro an entire lair was a quick lesson), and I've heard that Boar Wolf Ravagers (CL 65) do too. No idea on lower-level pets, though.
I got 12k exp in 1 lair i was tabbing back and forth getting my pet to attack stuff while i was areaing the lair ( we had about 5 jedi spinning in the group)
Is the exp pentaly thing just for me or can my group effect the ammount of exp my pet gets?
12k per lair sounds about right. Then again, I'm always solo, so I'm used to mission spawns with 2-3 creatures per wave, not the monster spawns I've seen an 8 person group get. The lair itself gives around the same CH xp as 3 creatures or so, definitely make sure your pets are getting hits in on that.
What exp penalty do you mean? There's the cap on xp gain based on your CL (so if you're a CL 20 in a CL 80 group, you get less xp than the CL 80s do), but AFAIK any capping will be based off of your CL, not your pet's. If your pet is included in the group, it'll get the CL damage adjustment, do more damage, and award more CH xp compared to your weapon xp.Some player groups aren't too happy using up a slot on a pet, though.
The key to CH xp in combat is pet damage output compared to your damage. The larger percentage of damage your pet does to the mob, the bigger split of xp is rewarded as CH xp. If you're working solely for CH xp (not trying to get any pet abilities), use the highest CL you qualify for. And if you've got Creature Management 3, use two pets. You do more damage with two CL 15 pets than you do with one CL 30 pet.
In order to max CH xp in Dant/Lok groups you need to not use a weapon or heal *at all*. The single best method in an AOE group is to have 1 aoeing pet out. Note that most aoe pets are CL60+, however there are a couple lower level pets that aoe. I forget which ones exactly (spinecap queen CL12ish?), but if search is working, I know that topic has been covered before.
If you do not have an AOE pet, the best method to max CH experience is to use a single pet that has a ranged attack. Cu pa's are great for xping at low level as they will use their ranged attack quite often. The reason for ranged attack is becuase of the delay you get between /tellpet attack and a melee pet actually arriving and hitting the target. Ranged pets eliminate this delay significantly. Of course they do almost no damage, but in a good AOE group, they don't really care. Then tab to a target, /tellpet attack, wait until the picket / bol / gurk'sname turns from yellow to red, tab to next target and repeat. Make sure you watch your pets health as sometimes they do get hit.
Grinding FS sense xp? Get in a good aoe group with a bull rancor, tell bull rancor to guard the main tank, go watch TV and return when you hear the big boom of the lair exploding. Vio 'la, 300k (ish) CH xp. Rinse and Repeat 3 more times = 1.2 million CHxp = 133,333 FS senses xp.
