Thread: Is there something wrong with CL70 pets?

First off, to any who may remember me, hi!

Secondly. I've been gone for well over a year (prior to any kind of CH change that has gone on), and I've only had a couple chances to play since I got back. My question is, are even CL70 pets weak? With the new information that's come out of the expansion, people generally seem concerned that CH + non combat profession doesn't give 80 CL's, and therefore would be restricted from controlling CL 71+ critters. With everyone up in arms over this, it makes me worried that not even a full CL 70 (or two 35's) is not enough.

Is this the case? Are CH even weaker then before I left? My non-levelled no-ability old-ass graping spider hunter seemed to do very well vs. similarly levelled opponents, and always held up better then I did when we got mobbed by a spawn .. but anyway, with all the uproar I thought something might be not meshing with my own personal experience, so I thought I'd ask.

Well I haven't progressed through the CH lines enough to use a cl70 yet... but I don't find pets to be weak.

I just dueled a cl76 opponent with my cl42 toon and a pair of 1 rollover Plains Tuskcats (cl15 and 16 respectively)... also had a probot out... got a 3 incap kill on him with little effort (at least much less than I thought).

Account cancelled again. Fix this flippin game. GCW, Smugglers, Player economy, enjoyable content and all bugs over 3 months old must be repaired before this game is worth the subscription. Get it, got it, done.

QFE : RocketDSM on the subject of the creation of a Non-Jedi Server
As for the argument of "The Jedi are bored, give them content and they'll go away." I actually do agree with you. However, there are two major problems to this argument. First, it would take a lot more coding time than just disabling the Old Man on one server. Second, all that time that would be devoted to a SINGLE PROFESSION is not being devoted to fixing bugs, adding general content, or making new expansions for the rest of the game population. So this is a classic problem of the needs of a few over the needs of the many. I can name seven professions that serve little to no purpose right now. You want more work done on one that's already absorbed an estimated 75% of the coding time for the past year. In my opinion, it's time to get the Jedi off the nipple and give the general population their turn.

Coupla Questions

Question 1: are you CL80?

Question 2: Was the pet grouped with you?

Question 3: Did you use embolden and/or enrage?

Nope, nope, and nope. Like I said, I'm newly returned to the game and I forgot that I could group with the pet! .. I never got used to using embolden/enrage as they never did anything appreciable before, are they good now? .. and no, I'm only CL68. The pet was CL 69.

Players do not have CL modifiers to damage one another the same way we do in PvE. That may still be an impressive feat (I do not PvP so I cannot say), but a direct comparison between the systems is not really appropriate.

oki - if your level is less than th epets it wont really benefit being grouped with you.

Embolden adds 15% to the pets health and lasts 5 minutes - always useful.

Enrage makes the pet berserk and increses damage output.

Be careful using these cos they have a quite large action and mind cost to activate , especially if you do both together.

Also if you grind the pet and get its ability slots open you can give a CL69 pet in the region of 10-12 ability slots - if you havent had any time to learn any abilities yourself ask afew CHs to teach ya pet abilities ya want - look at stickies for explanation of all pet specials - My CL69 fully trained and given pretty much defensive abilities tanks krayts for me (admittedly im CL80 and group with pet)so if trained and given the right abilities a level 70 pet can be very effective

Good advice! I'll probably just do "the grind", as it were, myself. I'm an MCH because I love working with my pets, I would be remiss if I just had somebody do all the fun work for me

Good to know that even if I don't hit CL 80 by the time the TOOW expansion releases that I won't absolutely need the CL71+ pets to be an effective MCH. I'm anxious to get up that high though, I have quite a few CL 71+ pets left over from when I played before that I was lamenting being unable to call. Kliknik queen shall be mine again!
